Troy was an actual city. Archeolists have found remains of the city where it was mapped in Ancient times. Ithica now I'm not too sure.

Well, you can visit it and look with your own eyes - Troy, or what most archaeologists believe is Troy, is on the Aegean coast of Turkey. It's called 'Truva'. There's not that much to see, though.
No idea about Ithica except that there's one in New York State.

Troy was discovered by Schlieman, a nut that everyone thought was crazy when he told them that he would set out to find troy. to their suprese, schlieman found the long lost city sometime after WWII. instead of slowly digging out the city to preserve the city, Schlieman digs a large tunnel diagonally though the layered city and destroys its many assets. He was in a sense more of a treasure hunter as he kept many great and valuble finds. Plus that last answeree is a moron.

ithaca (ithaki in greek) is an island near corfu (kerkira) that of course exists. troy also does exist in turkey (southwest of dardanelia) well not the whole city but mainly ruins (truva in turkish). the famous archaelogist Schlieman in 1870, found evidence that there was indeed a city there. later cities built one over the other were found and the most recently discovered one, is said that it is the troy of homer's works.
It appears that this city was, by the standards of this region at that time, very large indeed, and most certainly of supraregional importance in controlling access from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea and from Asia Minor to southeast Europe and vice versa. Its citadel was unparalleled in the wider region and, as far as hitherto known, unmatched anywhere in southeastern Europe. Troy was also evidently attacked repeatedly and had to defend itself again and again, as indicated by repairs undertaken to the citadel's fortifications and efforts to enlarge and strengthen them.

Ithaca is still there, look at a map of Greece. There are a few theories on the location of Troy, but most historians agree that it was a real place.

I have been to both!
A friend of mine lives in Troy (Michigan).
I attended school in Ithica (New York). O.K. So it is Ithaca, NY - but you mispelled it in your question.

Yes, Troy existed. It is still there today. The Trojan Horse is more uncertain.

Yes. I believe the name you're looking for is Schleimann.
Not the most honest fellow, but he discovered some cool stuff.
