my cat has scratched away the paint and some of the wood on a door - how can i fix it?

he ran and jumped - then sort of hung on - over and over again - i'm moving out soon, and need to fix it so that a) it looks better and b) my landlords don't find out a cat did it.

Okay, so this happened to me right before I moved out of a really classy downtown loft, and I freaked out. It was probably worse with me because it was a DOG with big thick DOG CLAWS that did it. So I looked around like crazy for anything to fix it... and all I came up with was some Goo-be-gone cleaner. I put that on, and it made it shiny and took the discoloration away. That is what you should do if the door is natural color, only use real furniture polish instead of orange-oil cleaner!

If the door is painted white, it's still easy. Get some SPACKLE and a little putty knife at any store that sells paint supplies. Take a look when it's dry -- if the scratches are small again, you might not have to repaint at all if the door is white. If you do have to repaint, go to a store like Lowe's or Home Depot and get one of their cheap cans of paint that they made mistakes custom mixing that is close to matching -- this is much cheaper than buying brand new retail paint. Just make sure to get the right sheen -- if your door is shiny, you need to get gloss or satin paint, not flat. Then get one of the smallest black sponge painters on a stick they have for about 50 cents. Take your paint home, get your sponge wet, and dip the very edge into the paint so that there is just barely any on the sponge. With that, cover up just the scratched part, and blend it in with the rest of the door -- perfect!

Generally the cats sharpen their nails by scratching on woods.that could be the one of the reasons why it had scratched. You get it covered by the putty and reshape it by Sand paper of zero emery.Try to paint it after the putty getting dried up and settled.Simple thing frankly speak to the owner what happened and admit ,sometimes the landlord may be very gracious to pardon you and say that it is all right. However in India if you are a tenant in a house the coverage of tenancy agreement is that you have to get the house repainted when you leave or to hand over the painting cost.If that is your case be bold to admit and pay the dues.

first is it metal or wood? go to a lowes or somewhere like that and you can usually find some touch up paint. tell the person at the store what you need they usually carry things like that.

if it is the door frame just replace that strip and paint it (if the land Lord does it they will charge you a lot more than if you do it yourself)take it from a ex apartment manager!!
