What is the point of someone trying to deny the Holocast ever happened?

There are numerous reasons people would try to deny it.

1. People don't want to believe that such cruelty exists.

2. People want to hate the Jews and the Holocaust tends to put them into a light that means they were abused, and makes it more difficult to hate them.

3. People don't want to believe that by letting the Jews suffer as long as they did give their ancestors some responsibility for letting it happen.

4. People want to believe it was it was exaggerated and therefore not as bad. It wasn't. It was worse.

No matter what people say or do, it happened. No one, not even those who survived it, can put into words the atrocities suffered by a group of people simply because of their ancestry. I have seen many of the pictures taken at the time, and read many of the articles written, and still cannot conceive of such evil.

no-one should... but I'm going to a tad bit controversial here and say... my grandad and grandma are polish... my grandads family where among the hierarchy in there polish state/district... so high up the order that Stalin had my great grandfather shot and buried in a Russian forest... it wasn't just the Nazi's at it... and if it wasn't Hitler, it would have been Stalin, or even Mussolini...

my point... the town they lived in was on the polish border with Germany, just before the tanks rolled over from Germany there was a lot of in house fighting between German Jews and polish Jews, and Germans... the shop keepers, the cobblers, politicians etc... you had Jewish shop owners in Germany, murdering German shop keepers, visa versa. What was this over? simple hatred for each other socialogical values, and jealousy... with a bit of greed to boot.

remember under hitlers new order germany was about to become a very wealthy nation!

the jews then where seen at the time just before it all kicked off, as a bit of a problem in the way of that wealth, as they where basically a rule unto themselves, my grandad thought that the insanity of the german machine, thought that the jewish laws where dictating too much about devine rights to wealth and hated this philosophy, and wanted to rid the country of it... the rest is history!

When my grandfather rang the church bells signalling the german tanks where coming over the border... he never would have imagined what would come next... he lost a lot of school freinds and family, so did my gran...

they just argued the accuracy of the figures... they can't possibly have been so high. Was there that many jews living in europe at the time!

There is no point in denying historical facts, but nevertheless it is done all the time (and not only with regards to the Holocaust).

Many people have vested interests or certain agendas, often connected to specific religious beliefs or political views, and this effects their thinking to the point that after a while of indoctrination and brainwashing they think that they actually believe a misinformation and spread it as the "truth" as they personally see it, regardless of facts and history.

this really saddens me beucase my whole family was in it, me being jewish.

My grandparents went throguh it and lost everything.

According to Iranian govt, holocast is a myth which was used to blackmail Christians and get monetary benefits. Jewish shouldn't react angrily and should go through history books and come up with solid and logical answer.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think some of the main points are the Jews got together and wanted their own state, Israel. So they made up all of the horrors and got their wish. I'm sure there's more (there always is), but I haven't studied that part of the Holocaust yet.

Anyway, any denial is completely stupid. All one has to do is listen to a survivor's story or visit a camp. But, of course, people have their own ideas...

You'll discover that only anti-Semites question the occurrence of the Holocaust.

My second cousin was in WWII and was part of the American Army Forces that liberated Dachau concentration camp. His first hand account of the atrocities at Dachau are enough to curdle your blood and leave you questioning human behavior for the rest of your life.

Dictators say a lot of stupid things. ONE, it gets attention. TWO,he can count on ignorant people to believe it. THREE, All dictators need a scape-goat, otherwise they would have to take the blame for anything that the people complain about. Hitler said that the bigger the lie, the more it will be believed.

maybe some things in history reminds certain people too acutely of our own failures to rise above the lowest pits of human nature and in their fear they deny. This is dangerous since our nature to hurt and destroy is always lurking and must constantly be guarded.
