Check for high blood pressure, eat high fiber foods such as grains & vegetables and cut down on fatty foods. Take fish oil daily. Drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly - and even a half hour of brisk walking creates significent change. Avoid stress - and plenty of sleep creates significent change. DO NOT SMOKE- a major contribution to circulatory damage.

There is nothing wrong with LEAN red meat 2 or 3 times per week. What is the nature of your risk of heart attack? Is it arterial sclerosis, high blood pressure, coronary disease, high blood fats and cholesterol or heart arrhythmia, you don't say? So, I can only answer in very general terms. First of all you need a thorough check-up with your Doctor. Full blood picture, liver function, cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, weight etc. Diet and exercise is only part of the equation, too much or the wrong exercise could pre-empt a heart attack. You need expert advice from your Doctor. In general you should get your weight down if it is high, get your insulin levels down by eating less carbohydrate and sugar. Plenty of green leafy veggies and protein. Don't smoke and a couple of glasses of wine, red or white, dry white is better for weight control. Take some anti-oxidants, Vits A,C and E. Moderate exercise, avoid really high heart rate. Over time you will notice that your rest rate will come down. If you have high blood pressure see your Doctor and likewise for cholesterol. 6 glasses of water per day is good too. Hope this helps, good look. Jules, Australia.

1 glass of wine doesn't do anything.. its actually the grapes inside the wine.. the alcohol counter balances that act, and can cause your heart to mis-beat.. with is nothing out of the ordinary, your heart mis beats about 1 every 8-10 minutes.. but it can cause it to mis-beat more frequently, leading to Heart failure. If you smoke, or do drugs, theses can also increase your chances of heart failure. What you can do is lower your cholesterol by eating healthier and also being very aroebic. Running is a good activity, but its damages Joints faster.. I would suggest swimming, or biking. Theses are all exercise the heart. Eat more veggies, you don't need to stop eatting meat completly, but just push back alittle bit. You could also just take a couple of mile walks, depending on your age.. that helps keep the heart active and beating.

Try and keep your stress level down too. Alos, it's not just red meat tha increases the risk of a heart attack. It's fatty foods like fried anything. And if your family has a history of it you should be extra careful.

Be careful with the aspirin 81mg a day. It thins your blood, make sure your Doc advises you to take it and if you are scheduled for any invasive surgery, this will need to be stopped most likely a week before the procedure.
Eat lots of fresh veggies. Nothing fried in grease and be choosy with the oils you use.

1) Type A Personality-impossible mission, more competative mentality and constant fight (intolerance) with environmental factors. Such persons are liable for heart attack.
2) Smokers are 5 times more liable for heart attack-So if you are a smoker, stop smoking.
3) Blood cholesterol consists of total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL). If the test values of first three are above normal, then he/she is liable for heart attack. So control your cholesterol with medicine and exercise. Fat and oils should be avaoided(especially fried foods).
Formula-Serum cholesterol-HDL=(Serum triglicerides/5)+LDL.
4) High Blood Pressure. If blood pressure is more than 140/90 mm of mercury, control the same with drugs.
5) Diabetes (excess bood sugar level ie more than 126 mg/dL)

make sure you don't have too much salt and fat in your diet, exercise regually and manage stress levels effectively because the heart is a pump and if you increase the pressure it will wear away at the lining of the blood vessels faster causing furring or blocking which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.
