My little electrical wizard....?

Hey I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas that I could do with my 7 yr old regarding electricity. We have made buzzers go off, lit leds and tiny lightbulbs, made the bell ring that sort of thing. But I'm out of ideas. We have little motors, tons of batteries, and several other bits and pieces. Anyone know of any websites for electrical experiemnts for kids, or ideas, how to put those things mentioned in a series? It's his "thing", he has taken every electrical toy he owns apart, not to mention a computer, phone, and many other things. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks.

You are a great mom. Look up the history of electricity. Each discovery from the static spark machines to the frogs legs that jump... How to make wires and batteries. All these are good for kids to see and do. Then buy an inexpensive meter so he can test electricity in your batteries for you.

Here's a better idea than the binary bozo: check out a site called Spark, Buzz Band and Other Good Stuff. Some of the projects may be a little advanced for him, others may be right up his alley. Good luck!

Have you tried an electromagnet yet?

You coil a thin copper nude wire around a screw (making as many turns as you can), and feed the circuit with a couple of 1.5 V batteries. The screw becomes a powerful magnet. The power is proportional to the voltage applied.

You can show him how to stick a fork in an electrical outlet, or even better, show him what the coil wire on your car does :)
