san fran doesn't really have any good outlets, best spot around there is the vacaville outlets (halfway between sac and san fran). just outside of sacramento is the folsom outlets which are owned by the same company that owns the vacaville outlets so most of the stores are similar. there are outlets in tracy, but they are not very good. if you are a shopper you want the vacaville outlets. there is also the gilroy outlets (not as good as vacaville). and in hayward (i think) there are a few outlets including an old navy outlet. in napa there are also outlets (not as many or as good as vacaville though).
down in southern cali there are some really good outlets in carlsbad (or just outside) and if you are willing to drive 4 hours you should check out the primm outlets on the way to vegas. down there the carlsbad outlet is probably the best.
have fun shopping! and of course getting good deals!

If you're in Riverside County, go east on Interstate 10 almost to Palm Springs, look for a skyscraper(that's the new Morongo Tribal Resort/Casino), but just almost a mile west of there are TWO outlet malls:The Desert Hills Premium Outlets and next door are the Morongo(tribal)-owned Cabazon Outlets...
If you're heading south toward San Diego on interstate 15 stop by the City of Lake Elsinore(exit at Nichols Road, then left on Collier Road)...welcome to the Lake Elsinore Premium Outlets...
Hope this helps...

In LA, try the Alley off of Santee in Downtown. There is also the Cooper Building and the Citadel Outlet Center off the 5 freeway, about 20 mins outside of LA.

They're not really IN San Francisco as much as in the bay area:
Great Mall (Milpitas)
New Park Mall (Newark)
Stonestown Galleria (San Francisco)
Eastridge Mall (San Jose)
Oakridge Mall (San Jose)
Valley Fair (Santa Clara)

In northern California, there's the Great Mall in Milpitas and outlets in Gilroy, Napa and Tracy.

in case you need to rigidity slightly north from SF to Napa Valley, there is two shops. Napa properly fee shops is my well-known, good names and inexpensive. yet some miles up the street in St. Helena are their shops. and they have shops like Prada and Movado, London Fog and such, yet more suitable extreme priced.

In L.A. try the garment district, it doesn't get any better than that. I don't know Frisco that well.
