Would Americans feel safer if the boarder to our south was run just like the boarder to our north?
If we had the Countries involved protecting and running the Southern border exactly as it is protected and run in the northern part of our country, So that there is fair and equal trade, and designated travel points, paper work is checked, Keeping Our criminals here (escaped convicts, and pedophiles looking for easily accessed minors from our southern neighbors) and their criminals there. But at the same time allowing enough daily life to pass through so as to make both sides as strong as the USA and Canadian government are together...Would that be reasonable? Or is there something else keeping that from being a logical solution.

A boarder according to www.dictionary.com is "n 1: a tenant in someone's house [syn: lodger, roomer] 2: someone who forces their way aboard ship; "stand by to repel boarders" 3: a pupil who lives at school during term time"
I guess the illegal aliens could be referred to as boarders since they force their way into the country; however, the United States isn't a ship. Therefore, your argument concerning the alleged Mexican boarders are flawed.
There are not very many Canadians sneaking into the United States illegally, but even those who do cannot be referred to as a boarder because once again the United States is not a ship. Therefore, your argument about the alleged Canadian boarders is also flawed.

You mean "border" right? Your description would be the ideal, of course. But Canadians aren't hurting economically the same way that Mexicans and South Americans are. It's a different form of government. If only everyone could go to Mexico and see what's going on there it would help. I don't mean just the vacation tourist spots, either.

Obviously you never tried to cross Canadian Boarder. They protect and demand respect in regards to crossing. And you better have a couple of ID-birth certificate and drivers license, and they will throw you in jail or out of country if caught-no nice guy here on that issue. Unlike the spineless we have here.

It wouldn't work because people are not trying to overwhelm the northern border. They go back and forth across foot bridges for kids sport leagues, and everyone goes back to their respective homes afterwords.
If that is how people across our southern border acted, we could handle them both the same. Different problems need different solutions.
Source(s): hadenough, I go to Canada fairly often. I agree that the big crossings are like you say, but border residents with ID in light traffic areas cross over very simply. - poohu812manyLv 52 decades ago
Amyza is not exactly correct; Canada only picks up half the cost of the border. Their agents handle traffic coming into their country, and our agents handle traffic coming into our country. According to the source below, U.S. border communities are responsible for the costs of detaining individuals involved in border crimes.

The northern border is worse. It's the largest border in the world. Not enough people to protect it.

stay in school. we've BORDERS. Secondly, that may no longer something new, that is something we would desire to continually be doing in any case. do no longer act like it is a few new coverage. the certainty is there basically isn't solid sufficient enforcement of this plan. even however, the academic of the language is slightly severe. usa would not have a countrywide language so what language do you advise to make human beings learn?

im here in texas so we are a hto bed of illegal immigrants. to answer ur question its kind of hard to compare canada and mexico bc economically, socially, the two are worlds apart. i have been to both and canadians are not poverty stricken or suffering form unemployment or lack of health care like mexicans are. those are the main reasons why so many come here illegally. u dont here about illegal canadians, do u? the problem is mexican immigrants come here for certain opprotunites and social services that many of them abuse. they create stereotypes and stigmas that people begin to apply to all mexicans, and thats wrong. many immigrants are hard working, nice people who just want a fair chance that they may not get in their native land. but u have many who come here to avoid jail, or to abuse our health care system by having multiple babies w/out insurance(i work in healthcare) or the ones who dont try to become citizens or learn english or adapt to american life. those are the ones who make it hard. this is a serious issue, especially in texas. it has both its pros and cons. of course the rich are going to want to illegals here. i mena if they arent whos going to keep their kids, clean their mansions, and mow their acres of land for less than minimum wage, a canadian?

Not sure, but I think Canada pretty much picks up the tab on that border.
