as a christian ,do I have to like everyone?
I know I should love everyone according to the Bible, but there are just some people that I cannot befriend no matter how hard I try. They plain drive me nuts, and it just makes me bitter. Is it bad to want to cut them off completely? Scripture would be nice, and no dissing my belief in God, please.

Yes you should have a godly love for everyone, but that doesn't mean that you have to like or agree with their behavior and actions. Pray about it. Pray that God will change their hearts. You don't have to be friends with everyone esp. if they are bringing you down and making you bitter towards them. In that case, I would avoid them. If you have to see and talk to them "kill them with kindness", because in the Bible it says being nice to someone who is mean to you is equivalent to pourig heaps of burning coals on their head. They will either a) change their attitude towards you, or b) get annoyed with you and leave you alone. Just pray for them and the situation and see what happens. :) I hope that all made sense.

You don't have to like them, you just have to treat them well. Liking somebody makes it easier to be nice to them, but if you can't do it then you just can't do it. The Bible is almost never about feelings- it's about actions. And I can't tell you whether you ought to cut them off or not, because I don't know the nature of your relationship. I would say that if you find they're hurting your relationship with God and making you a less loving and effective servant, then maybe you ought to move on and not associate with them anymore. There's nothing wrong with that. Jesus even told the apostles that if a town refused to hear their words, they should leave the place and shake the dust off their feet. Do likewise. Of course it's different if you feel a special burden on your heart for a particular person, or if you're bound to them by a promise or an obligation of some kind, or something like that. But if not, then pray for them and let them go.

Absolutely not, it is in fact, a statement of Jesus, (LK 14:26) that if you don't hate your parents, brother, sister, wife, children, you can't even qualify as a disciple. Only GOD can love everyone. Now thats a true statement. While it may also be difficult for some readers here to believe, I dont hate them, nor do I follow Jesus teaching to hate my parents, and while I am also not a Jew, I do observe the Command to Honor my parents....and love my neighbor. I am just distraught by the hypocrysy of those who make much ado over their supposed superiority in being Christians...and they have very real limitation in understanding Scripture, not only TORAH but their own mistranslated OT versions , to say nothing of the multicontradictory gospel versions.

Hey There!
Nah ah, you're only human with human limitations. You are not god or Jesus for that matter and can only try to emulate their teachings and message. Love thy neighbour and thyself.
You don't have to like someone, but you don't be rude, don't be disrespectful and mean. And of course don't hate. Hate is a word that is widely used and barely understood. Hate is what Hitler had for the Jewish and Satan has for God. As a christian you don't hate, kindness always in any situation destroys hate.
I'm glad you asked this question because it shows what a kind person you are and how much of a true christian you are. But remember you're not perfect, you're only human, if you yell at someone if your provoked then ok you raised your voice; but if you spread rumors or intentionally harm someone then you need to remember why you are a christian and what it means to be one.
You're a kind person, a real christian, thumbs up!!

Well, technically you should, but it’s nearly impossible. I try also, but it’s hard, it really is – there are some people who act in the sort of way that makes you think that they don’t deserve your love. I like to use the book of James as a reference point for this.
James 2:12
Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
People may seem terrible, but we cannot judge them, we must just try to get along with them as best we can, or we shall be judged as harshly as we have judged them, and none of us are perfect. Do the best you can, and try your hardest – you’re going to falter, but if you’re doing everything you can, Heavenly Father will bless you for it :o)

No, it's hard to like everybody, or even love everybody in this world. Do we like/or love a man who raped and murdered a child? Of course not! But we should pray for that man, we should have sorrowful pity for that man, as we do not know what kind of life he has experienced, that could have made him that way.. But that doesn't mean we are to become a friend of that man. The best thing we can do is pray to God for his soul, and let the penal system judge him in this lifetime, and God in the next. If we can genuinely pray, and have sorrow for that man, God accounts it as love.

U do not have to like everyone or befriend because it is impossible. Just do not hate anybody and wish the best for everyone even though u do not like them.

Absolutely not, but you should try to see the good in people. And you should be willing to forgive and do your part to befriend others.
But it's just not possible to like everyone. Everybody has someone who just puts them off naturally!

The Bible does say "Love Thy Neighbor". What types of people do you have a problem with?

You are a bad Christian...you have a lot of company! I know of no good Christians....the followers seem to be filled with a lot of dislike for others, certainly if what I see here from all the "good Bible spouting Christians" is any evidence.
