New puppy has fleas?

We just got a new puppy this weekend and he has fleas. We've sprayed the other dog but what can we do for this puppy. He's only 7 weeks old and I cannot seem to find any flea killer that says its safe for dogs that young. Any ideas?

Update:

Thanks, I'll ask the vet about the Advantage. I have to take him in 2 weeks for his next shots. I'll also go by our vet and see if they can sell me the Advantage before then.

I work at an animal shelter. Advantage liquid flea treatment kills fleas in 24hours it is for dogs 6 weeks and older. You can get this from your local vet. Its better than any shampoo and way better than the flea collar which can give a puppy allergic reactions. Please don't burn the fleas off. This person is thinking about ticks and they are sadly mistaken. Your new puppy should be taken to a vet anyway just to get its vaccines and wormer. These are crucial when its a new puppy.

Bathe the puppy in Dawn dishwashing soap, believe it or not this works, bathe in kitchen sink and work the detergent in well and let set for three to five minutes, towel dry and keep warm until completely dry, have the vet check for worms as fleas cause tape worms, and new puppies need to be wormed at least twice and on a yearly basis after unless the flea problem continues.

just wash the dog in the bath tub with shampoo and go through his fur with a lice comb and just pick them out and squeeze the flea in between your finger nails. just keep doing that for a like a week and if you don't see anything its ok. but you have clean the whole house now. with a vaccum cleaner. but you won't find anything like a spray for a puppy that young..

take him to the vet and request a pill named capstar

its safe for pups and pregnant females

also at the pet store their is a flea comb you can manually take out all its fleas

your other dogs will soon get fleas so i suggest you do this immediatly

Probably, you will need to take him to the vet. I dont know of any otc flea products that are safe for such a young one.

I would wash him with flea control shampoo, or with the help of someone else, burn the fleas off.
