Try the counter, and if dissapointment occurs type your own "9415756 visitors" thing at the bottom :)

I don't see why not.
At least you will know for sure if people are visiting your blog.
And if you find not many people are visiting, that's not a reason to be disappointed. You just have to make changes in your blog to attract people. Find out which are the most popular blogs, and see why they are so successful.

Yes, you should.
If no one visits, at least you know that you can "Add URL" to all the popular (and not so popular) ones. And when the number gradually increases, you'll be happy!
If many people visits, you'll be happy!
