1/2 of AMERICA consists of ppl who are overweight! Adults and Children Alike! Mostly adults though...
most children are active, they have a great metabolism, and usually are required to have some physical activity in school (like sports, dance class, etc).
But obesity in children is on the rise

If we take young to mean under the age of 18 then almost 40% of all children are overweight, 26% are obese and 7% are clinically obese.
Figures vary from country to country with the US having more overweight children than anywhere else - 33% are obese compared to say the UK and China where respectively, 24% and 11% are obese.
Based on current trends it's estimated that by 2020 almost half of America's children will be obese. Already it's a major health issue and is something that many governments around the world have been addressing in recent years.

All of the YMCA's nationally were sent a video to watch about the health of our nation right now. For the first time in history, the generations coming up are going to be more unhealthy than our generation (I'm in my 50's) For the first time kids and teenagers will be facing osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressures, etc. Because of the lack of activity, and the dieting, and not eating healthy, the generations under mine are in big trouble, and will start to see health issues very soon. Exercise and eating well are the key, all of the problems listed above would not happen if exercise and proper eating were started. Hope this answers your question.....
