Agreed. They both can be believed together. This is another point of evidence that the Fanatics on all sides are the one's making it difficult for others to be open minded. You have certain Atheists who claim Evolution proves there is no God (Evolution does no such thing... it is not out to prove or disprove the supernatural.) And then you have those Christians who claim that Creation could not have come about thru Evolution. Which merely shows me that, though I'm not exactly super-intelligent on the subject of Evolution, but even I know better than to make silly statements such as these.

Let me ask you, how can God make it any clearer that He wanted to convey the picture that the earth was created in six days?

It could have gone like this:

"God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." ... And there was a long period of time - the second long period of time.

No, rather, He chose the term that connotates a 24 hours period. Oh, and then he reiterates this in Exodus 20:11, "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." The Sabbath day is, as you guessed, a SINGLE day.

Why would He lie to people if He created all things in millions of years? Evolution claims that the sun and the stars came BEFORE the earth, but the Bible teaches that the earth came BEFORE the sun and stars.

Furthermore: The Bible says that God commanded the animals to reproduce after their kinds. Animals wouldn't be "evolving" outside of their kind; a horse isn't going to turn into a whale. A monkey isn't gonna turn into a man. Also, consider that there is no gain in information through mutations, but rather a loss or resorting of genetical information. God created the kinds of animals with a vast library of information that would slowly become specialized, providing us with the many species of animals we now have.

If God used evolution, not only would there be no reason for a Savior (since the very reason He sent a Savior is to restore this world from its state of suffering and death, and if He used evolution to get to Adam & Eve, then that means there has been millions of years of suffering and death, which would mean that His creation is not good, and God says it is good in the Bible), He would also be a liar.

Are you accusing God of lying? Who do you believe, the fallible theories of man who weren't even there, or the infallible Word of God, the eyewitness to our history?

Creationism as explained by creationists is logically impossible.

Creationists claim complexity is proof the universe was created while at the same time claiming the creator was not created.

That is not a theory, it is not rational, probable or within the realm of likely possibilities.

Why don't we teach the Easter Bunny created the universe? That would be just as plausible.

The universe & life have always existed so we have no need for a creator of any kind.

I'm not loyal to either side I have always considered myself to be an open minded skeptic. I realize that the idea of the origins of the universe rely on their being an absolute truth and that truth by it's very nature is unknowable for the simple reason that no one was there. I see the creation story in the bible as a means of passing down an idea of our beginning I do not see it as literal. If the bible is read more from a metaphysical viewpoint it can have all of it's dogma removed from it

I'm a creationist and I believe that evolution, or at least microevolution poses no problems. I believe God created kinds and those in turn adapted to their environments through microevolution.

here's another point of view for you involving the coexistence of evolution and creationism. God started the living creatures on the earth and they evolved. then comes the days of the bible. God created Adam and eve. they have kids Cain and Able. Cain kills Able. Cain is sent away to live in the land of Nod. then it says Cain knew his wife. what wife? God hadn't created any other people. sooooo, cain had to have married someone who had come from the evolution side of things. hence the missing link. the sons of God married the daughters of men. in other words the son that God created married a daughter that evolved from the earth. evolution has been proven. we cant deny that. there is also the missing Grey area between evolution and modern man. this theory sounds plausible to me. i guess people would have to believe in God to see things from our point of view. i think to have both evolution and creation makes perfect sense. i could expand farther, but to do so would start making me look like a nut :) God bless you, have a great day!

It is a matter of what Genesis says. Genesis 1:20-31

So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

We were created in a day not a million years! This shows the contradiction between the two beliefs, chose Christianity or deception! You are also agreeing with the evolutionists that Jesus was just a man not God! If it was a thousand years then how did the plants survive without light since the day is thousands of years the night must be hundreds?!

There is no evidence to prove evolution!

I agree...no side will be right. And you won't truly know until the day you die. Evolution is just easier to believe because there is physical evidence. There is truly no evidence of a God. Yet for some reason I still believe. Maybe it's just simply wanting to believe there is something better after this life.

There is nothing in the Bible that contradicts evolution. It is important to remember that "Heaven," "the Afterlife," or "the Other Side" is timeless. It does not matter what religion you hail from, the "Other Side" is timeless. What is 7 days to us might be thousands of years on the "Other Side" where life was created. Evolution is a part of our miniscule lives now, so why should we doubt that it is a part of our past?

You are far too sane to be a fundamentalist, far to understanding to get along here with most Christians who post. Of course you are right...there is no contridiction of the two theories. It is amazing that the first ones to say, "God moves in mysterious ways" are the first to scream "creationism." Strange bunch.
