Is babbling and ranting the true meaning of speaking in tongues?

The "speaking in tongues" mentioned in the Bible was the ability to speak in a real understandable language which the speaker had never studied or learned before, like if I suddenly started speaking in Russian or Arabic or something. It was one of the miraculous gifts attributed to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, all of which ended in the 1st century.

Also it is interesting to note that a restriction was placed on its use--only if it could be understood by the listeners or there was a translator present.

What is practiced in the modern denominations breaks both of those rules and is therefore proven to be false. Vain babbling is no more speaking in tongues than an elephant is an insect.

The true meaning is speaking in foreign languages. The X'tian meaning is babbling in the spirit of the "holy ghost" or some such nonsense.

No, there really is a Biblical phenomenon know as speaking in tongues. Unfortunately some people believe that they can. If you see someone speaking in tongues today-most probably they are either deceived by Satan or they are just plain lying. It is possible-but so rare, its almost unheard of. Trust me-if someone tells you they speak in tongues-they probably don't.

You wanna hear tongues? Seekalabba, ekalabashandai, mookoosookoo, elababalaba, mumumumumu, arghhhhh, oooooooooooo, huhuhuhuhu, yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. It is a human specific behaviour found in almost all religious cultures. It is meaningless, but it does help to release stress.

There is no "speaking in tongues". It's been recorded and it's nothing but gibberish. No linguistic rules whatsoever.

So, if it's "divinely" inspired, the "divine" influence is retarded.
