How effective are glass ceramic cooktops for boiling, simmering and maintenance. I don't want to hook up gas.

Mine works very well, and is easy to clean. Mine boils and simmers just fine. It is not like gas because the element comes on and off at a different speed for different settings, low comes on and off less than on high. Not a constant heat like gas. Im very happy with mine though.

We own a five burner GE and love it! Mine heats up to temp. in 30 sec.! They do require some getting used to though. Good Luck

P.S. You need to make sure that you do not use cast iron or rigid bottom pans also do not use copper pans, these all scar the surface of the stove. Manufacturers suggested use is a stainless steel flat bottom pan.

Glass cook tops are nice, easy to keep clean, just make sure that you have good pots and pans that are level on the bottom to insure even heating when cooking.
