How many of you agree with me....?

I think the 10 point best answer and voting system stink!

I get my share of best answers, but consider the following:

A question gets 6 answers, 3 of which are short and don't really address the question. The other 3 are well thought out and took some time, but maybe 1 is slightly better. Why not have it setup so I can give 10 points for best and maybe 7 to another and 5 to another? This would lead to a much fairer distribution of points and people who didn't get best answer would realize their answer was still appreciated. It's not as if the Federal Reserve will be depleted by dishing out more points. U don't need to send email notification. The other problem is the voting system is a failure and 65% of questions go to a vote. Many questions in voting receive hardly any votes(and some people unjustly vote for themselves) with some absurd results. Something needs to be done to encourage question posers to resolve it themselves. I could go on, not much space left. Your views? Thx!

i think that your right about the whole 10 for first 7 for second and 5 for third it would be a much better way for everyone to get points, andi dont think you should be able to vote for yourself

please keep in mind that there are a greater number of teens and preteens using this system now. and let's also remember the vast numbers of idiots who are partaking as well. can you imagine all these stupid kids and grown fools trying to figure out all those numbers? i can picture the mess it would create. and honestly, how often are there three really good answers.

most people pick answers according to their own agenda anyway. for example: the question "is george bush a brilliant politician?" the asker already has an answer in mind and will only be choosing a winner based on whether or not that person agrees, no matter what facts are presented.

then you have those juvenile questions like "based on my avatar, am i pretty?" again, we're talking about children.

perhaps the point system could be based on usefullness, originality (how many times has someone asked "does size count?"), and thought provoking quality of the question. of course that would necessitate a judge but i'm ok with that as long as the judge is not a child (under 18) or has an IQ below 120.

actually, i agree the system is not perfect. but its fun. i get to go off daily on people i don't know. i can be bruttally honest and leave scathing comments for people who can be deemed mental midgets and no one can do a thing to me. i'll be ok with whatever changes are made to Answers cuz i'm smart enough to adapt and sarcastic enough to find an outlet.

Agreed completely. I don't like the voting thing either, because people can vote for their own answers, and sometimes stupid answers are picked. I think that the person who asked the question should always have to pick because it should be what best suits them, not other users on yahoo.

I agree with you on the voting thing, but I think the 10 points works fine.

  • How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

i think it is ok to if we could choose best answer and also other answer if there is more than one answer that u have appreciated.

but the main thing i agree with is that ppl can vote for their own answers ... ...i actually find it weird ..why can't something be done about that..
