How do I get Mozilla plugins (pxi files I think) to work, do I need to download a special program? Help. Thanx

(This answer is referring to "Extensions" rather than "Plug-ins", but since you mentioned "pxi" - which I guess was supposed to mean "xpi" - I thought this was more likely. "Plug-in" in case of Firefox or Mozilla Navigator generally referes to something that can handle a particular file type, like Macromedia Flash Player for .swf or the Adobe Reader to view .pdf files inside a browser window.)
This depends on the Mozilla software on which you want to install the extensions. In Firefox, you just click on the link to the xpi. If you're trying this for the first time on a particular website, a message bar appears on the top of the page which informs you that the website you are visiting tried to install software. You have to click on "Edit options" in that bar and allow the site from which you are installing the plugin. After that, just click on the link to the xpi again and it should work. A nice explanation with screenshots can be found when installing the yahoo toolbar at http://toolbar.yahoo.com./
If you are trying to install extensions to Thunderbird, the process is different. Right-click the link to the xpi and save it to your hard disk. Then open Thunderbird, go to Tools > Extensions. In the Extensions window, click on "Install", locate the file on your hard disk, and you're done!
With Mozilla Navigator, the process is similar to Firefox.
