What could they have done?

In the end, it comes down to parents knowing what their children are doing online and off. We keep our computer in the kitchen in full view so I can keep tabs on any internet activity.

I don't think there's a lot Myspace can do, they can't police all the teens using the site, that's up to the parents

I think the parents are just looking for someone to blame when it seems that the guy and the parents are the only responsible ones. They keep talking about adults using the site; but if the guy who assaulted her had been 14, would it have made any difference? From the story I heard, he picked her up from school and they went to dinner and a movie before the assault. When I was 14, I'm pretty sure my parents would have wanted to know who I was with and would have objected to me going with anyone they didn't know. I hate that this happened to this girl, but it brings up the point that a lot of parents are willing to let strangers into their home via the internet and have no idea what their children are doing.

in all reality i do not think Myspace is responsible for anything that has happened. Parents need to know what their children are doing. The only way Myspace can cure that would be to have the credit card verification for age. They are making it so 18 and over can not be a 14yr olds friend. Still the underage users will be there...all they have to do is lie. So really its not Myspaces fault once again.

how about keeping underage kids out of it, obviously people are going to hook up and swap pics and what not. I'm in my 20's and I gotta say MySpace makes me nervous, but I know I can handle myself. I know what I should or should not say or do, 14 15 16 yr olds just think it's a game and that you can't be found.

nothing - there are sick ppl everywhere and when there's a will there's a way. The internet can be a dangerous place, so my question is: where were the parental controls?

That's like suing motorolla if the assulter called her on the phone prior to the incedent.

My-Space really didn't do anything wrong. The child is old enough to know better, and the parents should do more and care more about what their kids are doing. The Internet is a dangerous place, and parents need to monitor what their kids are doing on there.

I have grandchildren but not from my own kids since I'm just 21 and unmarried but I have them from my cousins' kids' children. Therefore,we're not close. P/s: I believe most grandparents spoil their grandchildren especially the grandmas because I see my mom did the same thing to my niece and nephew.

they have allowed people to make their site private which many do that are underage or just people who want it to be private
