A company is the training company he was assigned to. 2nd battalion is the traning battalion that he was assigned to. 10th infantry is the next subdivions there of and it looks like it should be 4th Plt, which would be fourth platoon, the smallest divison. hope that helps

(mail dissemination usually ends at the company level. God/co comder are the only one's who'll know where a platoon's actually located) In 94 at least, it was a basic training unit at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Possibly the unit's been redesignated, and deployed?

I think your friend just writes sloppy. It is probably Alpha company 2nd battalion 10th IN (infantry division) 4th Plt (platoon).
