A company is the training company he was assigned to. 2nd battalion is the traning battalion that he was assigned to. 10th infantry is the next subdivions there of and it looks like it should be 4th Plt, which would be fourth platoon, the smallest divison. hope that helps

Well lets see Alpha Company 2nd Battalion

looks like 10 infantry, 4 tn, could be training,

    rlt means repair lead time

sounds like a wacky address to me

    go with just,

    a co 2nd bn, 10 in

The above answers are correct: Company A, 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, 4th Platoon. You can write it for short like this:

    A 2/10 Infantry, 4th Plt

Source(s): I went to basic training in A 3/10 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, in 1998

A Platoon is a collection of soldiers within a Company, a Company is a grouping of Platoon, a Battalion is a group of Companies. Your friend in in 4th platoon, A Company, 2nd Battalion

LoL Rock on! Some folks here were lost in the woods misery too. I can confirm at least, the A-2-10 (inf) part. Putting in the platoon number's a bit unusual though. (mail dissemination usually ends at the company level. God/co comder are the only one's who'll know where a platoon's actually located) In 94 at least, it was a basic training unit at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Possibly the unit's been redesignated, and deployed?

I think your friend just writes sloppy. It is probably Alpha company 2nd battalion 10th IN (infantry division) 4th Plt (platoon).

    This makes more sense.
