I installed electric meter in my garage, it is runing in wrong direction- what is the problem?

Interchanging the line wires will not change the direction of rotation because that causes both the current and voltage sensing coil wires in the meter to be swapped also. Either swap just the current sensing wires in the meter, or swap the load wires that hook to your main circuit breaker in the garage. The hardest and most expensive part of fixing the gas heater is the flue. But it is not extravagant. To raise it off the floor is no big deal. You can build a platform or purchase one from a supply house already pre-made. I don't understand why copper is not allowed, unless it is from an iron pipe manifold that the gas is supplied through and there could be a requirement for them to use a flexible connector. Still not a big deal nor expense. Weigh that against the cost of running a new electric outlet for an electric heater. As mentioned, you may want to consider taking a credit from the seller and purchase a tankless heater. Gas or Electric. It will be less energy used down the road. Good luck

Are the wires backwards? Switch em just to see.

The two power wires supply need to be switched. Be careful because it is apparent you are not experienced. Turn OFF power source before doing anything and DUCK when turning it back on.

woot woot did you install it upside down?? if not its running backwards and you need to talk to your electric company before they figure this out and accuse you of stealing power.
