For "Colin W": the stats are showing that the Italians received in each game an enormous amount of fouls, and your concept of "diving" does not make any sense. If you play soccer, you know that playing full speed like they do, if someone push you even a little, you will fall. And that is for everyone, not just the Italians. Then, we watch the game slow motion and the perspective of the fouls are distorted from reality.

About Spain, I was not disrespecting the Country or the Team (which I enjoyed watch them playing) BUT it was referred to Bubu, who continue to talk badly about Italy since the first game.

And for your information, ITALY is not on the ground moaning like you said, but we are VERY proud on being one of the 4 Teams left in the 2006 World Cup!

I'm not an Italy fan they are way too much of divers for my liking. Given half a chance they would rather be rolling on the ground holding their legs to try and win anything they can get, rather than playing cleanly and actually winning on their own merits (not just their good acting skills)

Don't worry too much they will slowly but surely be brought back down to earth with an almighty bump (hopefully) by a better team or at least a decent ref.(Although they do have good defenders)

Get the yellow cards rolling is all i can say, then we might see some control and actually enjoy the game more.

By the way its not alwyas the fouls that are seen and recored that are the worst, I hope they see how scheming they look on the replays of them diving-and actually getting something for it : |

Because they're excellent performers, and they know that they're fun to watch when they do it. I'm not an Italy fan, but I really don't mind, it's fun to watch. :) While I think that Italy's team is full of great actors, there are definitely a few other teams out there that could give them a run for their money in that category...

I've said it before and I'll said again and again and again....

It is NOT wise to slide tackle your opponent inside your own goal area, people fail to see that. It opens the door to many problems

Also whenever a game has to be decieded by penalty shoot out italy does not do well

I think slide tackling should be eliminated, it will solve many problems... it will reduce the number of yellow/red cards, reduce the number of injuried players and reduce any controversy that will come from it such as the italy/aussie game..

Italians are proud of their fraud...yes. lol, haven't you seen them bragging about their first descent win..the first legitimate win in the whole competition was today...and now they think they're gonna win the world cup. Colin..what "you saw" in the AUS-ita match was that you guys were running circles around italy and you were on the verg of scoring.

Now, What "Italian Fans" saw was feeble attacks from AUS(not their falt, they have the world's best Rugby team, and they hate soccer!) and we also saw italy go down to 10 men for 45 min with the unjustified red card to italian player. Plus, in very hot weather conditions probably favoured the auzzies, not the azzurri team in which i say "you guys were lucky".

Yes, we think that "falling" is usually because off a foul play on the other team (think Basketball- If you even reach in while defending- you'ed most likely have fouled that player).

My guess: because they have been one of the best teams in the whole history of the World Cup. 3 times world champions, made the final and/or the semifinals several other times. Somehow, they have always been present. Plus, their home teams have been constantly present in the Champions League in Europe, winning several times. So, international audiences probably know them better than others. And some may be a little envious too ;-) . Just that.

But I appreciate that you said that all teams dive a little. Maradona did too. Latins love drama. As long as the referee isn't fooled, it's fun ;-)

They have the most aggresive defence so if they fall is because they try harder than any other team. FORZA ITALIA.

I would say other teams are bunch of cheaters. Like Germany they cheated over Argentina. Brasil is overated team that almost lost to Japan (if they had a better goalkeeper.) England are like a feminin team that also doesn't belong in the quater finals. So if your talking about Italy you should talk about other teams too.

Acutally I think its wrong to blame Italians only...remember Rivaldo in 2002 in the 1st round against Turkey ? Adriano against Ghana ? everyone does it.

Well I do agree that the Italians started it, it probably started with Helenio Herrera's Inter side of '60s. They perfected the Catenaccio, & 1-0 results were frequent. So players started to take dives to get a penalty & score a goal. There were no fouls for diving those days...it carries on. But now every one does it.
