what do you think about english football?
its embarrassing. We have only ever been in one final and two semi-finals.
How can we justify calling ourselves a world football power when we are not
We have become all too big for our boots, and yet we have got nothing to shout about because we have done nothing. This is what annoys me.
We have no right to be as confident or arrogant about our football as we are. It has been not been anywhere near good enough.
i also think its no coincidence that the one player that scored from
the penalty spot was a player that plays in german league and not in the english league what does that say about our training methods. what do you think

Wholeheartedly agree about Owen Hargreaves. We all said just that after the game. I thought he has given 2 man of the match performances at this tourney and it was nice to see the lad silence the idiotic boo boys as well.
Sven can leave with a sackful of our loot and look for his next task. Like which offshore account do I put the stupid english's money in?
At least McLaren aint afraid to go for it like with Boro in the Uefa cup. Think there was 5 strikers on the pitch at the end. Still think that Big Sam would have been brilliant. No primadonnas with him, just people who would be honoured to wear their country's shirt with pride.
Still,we got Steve Mc now so lets give him time and see what he comes up with. At least we have a national coach thats homegrown again. So we may just see a little bit more heart and spirit in their performances now. Hope so.

Man, I love football, and what's up with the "English football" thing? For everyone out there that isn't good at sports, this is football, not rugby! Football is an art, a teamwork effort, here there aren't amazing individuals , in the sense that one man can't win a match. Can't say X or Y is great, that team on which X is plays great. That is the spirit of football.

As someone who is loyal to their country (it seems more that you are) I'm quite proud that we got as far as we did. Why does every country put other countries down? We all like to visit other countries for holidays, business etc. I've travelled extensively with the Army (as brat and wife) and don't understand why the English are so a. hard on themselves and b. disliked by other nations. Questions like yours always bring so many negative answers and I'm a little fed up with it now. Am I the only person here who actually likes my own country and thinks it did pretty well in the World Cup, considering several other countries didn't get nearly as far as we did? Isn't the negative attitude going too far now? Can't we just accept each other as all members of the human race, some good at some things, some at others?

I'm a Scot and we were the same back in '74 and '78. We were genuine contenders in both World Cups, we did have some exeptional talent then. Looking good on paper isn't good enough though. What cost Scotland dearly then is what is costing England now, arrogance. Theres some world class talent playing for England but they are certainly not world beaters. You can blame the media for pumping the (English) nation up to much. I've a good friend on his way back from Germany quite obviously dissapointed. It shouldn't be because they never progressed and actually won the cup. He should be dissapointed to find that at the end of the day, england are really just a good average side. Hard luck guys, drop the "holier than thou at football" attitude for 2008, and I just might put one of those silly looking St George flags on my car!!!!

At least England have a team. My national team, The US, stinks! I live in England because my wife is English, but I love Football. I love the Premiership, even though the team we support got their *** relegated.
However, I do think that the media hyped up the 23 Lions in Germany. Not to mention that it seemed like only if Rooney was on the pitch, England would win. England did better with ten people than it did with Rooney, I think.
It did make me glad to see Hargreaves score and get MoM because he had gotten a lot flak due to his playing in Germany and being chosen for the National Squad.
There's always 2010...Like the advert says: BELIEVE.

But it isn't English football anymore is it. Its football played by all nationalities that happens to take place in England. We can't blame the EPL for our poor performance in Germany as many of the top players are non-english but we also have top English players in the top teams. Also the top 4 teams in the EPL are coached by non-English coaches and the three penalty takers who missed were coached by a Spaniard and Portugese.

well God will help them.I am a supporter of the english team, they have stars all over, they are rated but they lacked cooperation. Look at their match against paraguay, sweden and portugal, portuguese are no team, though were affected by weather, but their match against portugal would have been won if not of that hot tempered boy. u may call him guy. I don'mt know why he was allowed in the first instance.well ithink what they need is determination and cooperation to proof thier worth as for Crouch, joe cole, robinson and Gerrard to some extent did well, but the likes of lampard and Rooney did rubbish.Even Gerrard too also made a costly mistake thet his children will be seen 4 life.
people said when i was watching that England are not good at penalties, but penalties is anyones game
I am a Liverpool fan too. I can't afford to speak lies bcos Gerrard scored his penalty in FA cup final, he may be under tension as some people said.

I personally enjoy FA premier League because they have a fast pace game. Your league also develops a lot of young and talented players such as: David Beckham, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, and so on. You don't have to feel bad with the result of this world cup because Portugal just simply playing really well this time.

I don't want to read all that. I like the EPL, every year me and some guys from school make a fantasy league and have a $20 entry fee, it's intense with the transfers and injuries.

Its the obsession with stars which drives me nuts, it should be a team game and we should't get so upset when one person can't play!
