Should Yahoo Answers have a grammar check to complement the existing spell check feature?
To meep, actually I did not spell anything wrong. I used the word complement as in "something added to complete or make perfect" not compliment " a flattering remark."
I agree that at the very least the spell checker should be automatic in editing.
I can understand how a grammar check might stifle some of the more “creative” questions!
auntb93: a thesaurus feature would be very useful.
I also might add that the spontaneity of the responses adds most of the charm to this site. I honestly believe that some of the users do not think before they post, which produces some hilarious if sometimes puzzling “answers.”

The spell checker is only good in instances when the poster remembers to use it (yes, I often forget), is interested in using it (somehow, spelling "what" as "wot" is easier - it saves you a whole letter) and knows the correct spelling of the word to use in place of the incorrect one. I am afraid to say that the grammar check will be utilised even less than the spelling check. What I would love would be a spelling check which is incorporated into the text box - something similar to a Word document - so that I can see at a glance where I misspelled a word.

I would be helpful, but it would probably not be used any more consistently than the spell checker is. What I want is a thesaurus function. When the preview comes up with asterisks, it should pop up with a list of suggested euphemisms, so we can substitute a polite word for the censored one.

B4B, I answer sure, a grammar examine will be fantastic. notwithstanding, as others talk about, Y!A spell examine is a options from desirable. yet when we get grammar examine, i'd also like a profanity blocker; even even as persons attempt to veil their profanity with asterisks and twists on spelling, I nevertheless locate it offensive.

What would the point be? Most people don't ever seem to use the spell-check.

There wouldn't be much point. The people who really should use spell-check don't bother, so they wouldn't bother with a grammer check.

I don't think that they really need a grammar checker. What they need is a foul language blocker.

No, that would kill like 80% of questions and answers here.
