Would you follow your therapist?

Have you ever though about how your therapist is outside his/her office and have thought of ways to find out? Thought about what they do in there spare time, what there family is like etc? Tell me about it.

I am a therapist. It's ok to wonder these things, totally happens and nothing wrong with the thoughts unless they become a preoccupation. It's common for a client to wonder about the person they are telling deep stuff to, a matter of trust for some. It's not ok to actually follow your therapist around. Always be more curious about yourself than the therapist unless you suspect the therapist is unethical...and even then do not follow them around...find another therapist.

I think that it is normal for a person to think about their therapist. The therapeutic relationship is very different from all our other relationships and that can be very frustrating. It is my experience that therapists are human too.

You want to stalk your therapist? You've got serious issues. You should go see a therapist.

You could do a search on the Internet (one of those background checks) or check with the college they attended to see what types of activities they participated in if your just curious about the integrity of the person.

Following someone, however, is stalking. A crime in all states, I think.

You need a hobby, not a therapist.

you could always ask .... he/she might not give you specific details, but would probably be happy to divulge a few generic details such as married, kids, sports etc.

much healthier to ask than to stalk.

Personal life has nothing to do with profesional life........but its a good thing if they put into action what they preach...

If you are stalking people you really need therapy.
