Is it better a .40 caliber handgun than a .45 acp?
I own a 9mm taurus PT92AF model, but I came across a norinco .45 1911 model and a s&w .40. Which one should I choose? Which one is better? Thanks for your answers

Test fire both and go with what feels best for you. As to stopping power, I wouldn't want to be on the muzzle end of either...

traditionally, Europeans have considered handguns extra as a badge of the officer corps and police authority than as a precise operating device, and their pistols, 7.sixty 5 mm, 9mm Kurz, and 9mm Parabellum being extra well known examples, reflect that custom. the US custom is thoroughly diverse. The Walker Colt at its time replaced into extra helpful than maximum rifles. not in straightforward words officials, yet NCO's or maybe deepest infantrymen contained in the cavalry carried great-high quality revolvers. contained in the 1890's the US military replaced to a 38 high quality revolver nonetheless in idea as a operating device yet found it inadequate contained in the Philippine revolt, for this reason the type of the 40 5 ACP and the 1911 pistol. The argument between the 9mm/38 cal. vs. the 40 5 is an old one made extra heated through the type of the 357 magnum. some idea the 357 magnum replaced into too little gun in some police circumstances, and the 40-one magnum replaced into more desirable, with the 10mm following. yet those are problematical to shoot nicely, so the 10mm replaced into reduce right down to the 40 S&W. by the way, the old 38-40 is contained in the course of the 40 high quality/10mm %.. pick to quit the cost of a bolo-wielding Moro? (And there are nonetheless Moros who qualify as "Islamic extremists.) it really is what the 40 5 ACP replaced into made for. 38's/9mm's received't attempt this nicely, yet will artwork for most circumstances in a lighter gun, and for some reason the extra mag skill looks significant to some. pick to break the engine block of a felon's vehicle? the ten's your selection, in case you could manage the flinch. can not settle on? Compromise with the 40 S&W.

1911's are all great and have become an American standard. If on a buget take a look at Rock Island Armory, imported through Twin Pines,Norincos aren't imported anymore and RIA has a great customer service. If you can afford it a Glock 22 in .40 is what to police in this area use.Of course as said before try shooting both to get a feel for what you want it to do.

Depends upon what you can handle. I found that the M1911 .45 has a little more kick than I'm comfortable with. The .40 revolver has enough weight to keep the weapon down for repetitive shooting. Any reputable gun seller will let you test fire if you're serious about buying. Try them both and see what fits.

Well of course what kind of weapon you have is what ever is in your comfort zone, and what you want it for. I have a .40 cal. S@W but I'm considering trading it in on a revolver. I am a little more comfortable with a revolver. If I want to just go out plinkin I would rather use a 22 rifle since the shell are so much cheaper.

Whoa! Before you do anything try the Glock model 22 or 23, .40 caliber, semi automatic. It's awesome. Many police agencies have switched to Glock because they are simple, accurate and dependable. I like them so much, I own everything that Glock makes in .40 caliber.

Good solid advise in previous posts, try both and see what you like makes perfect sense to me. The debate still goes on regarding stopping power of those rounds, hope your needs are recreational only? Good luck!

.45 has a lot of knock down power, but the .40 is a faster round. s&w makes a good gun, I can't see you going wrong with it.
