How do I prepare my cat for stud service?

I have a really gorgeous snow white ragdoll cat with blue eyes and am thinking about possibly using him as a stud. He's about 5-6 months, so firstly--how old should he be before I even start thinking about doing that. Also...what else will I need to do to prepare for this??

Thanks!

First make sure this is what you want. There's plenty of breeders around already, to "perpetuate " the breed. There are wayyy too many unwanted kitties as it is.

A stud cat, MUST have it's own outside enclosure. You cannot, repeat, CAN NOT live with a whole cat in the house ! Certainly not one that "knows" what it's for !

The cat must be of a certain age to be entered into the ACA's Stud Book. In other words, he must be registered, AND eligible to BE a stud.

First take him to your vet and make sure all his vaccinations are up to date. Your vet can answer your questions about the proper age for breeding and what to do next.
