I've tried scrubbing, soaking - nothing works! The plastic container is still stained with the tomato sauce. How can I get it out? Thanks for all replies!

Try bleach. But I know sometimes when plastic gets stained there is no getting it out. It looks gross but it won't hurt to reuse the container.

Easy; the combination of oil and tomato coloring chemicals (e.g. lycopenes) produces a very powerful staining dye. Bleach might work or help fade the stain peroxide probably will not (the 2 are water based). You may have to experiment with different types of plastic,or be stuck with using glass containers.

Try soaking it in bleach, or soaking it overnight with white vinegar. Have you tried scrubbing with a Brillo pad? Soak first, then scrub the next morning.
It is true that you can re-use the container, even though it doesn't look so good.

After you wash it, leave the container out in direct sunlight for approx. 3 hours. Something about the detergent you used and the direct sunlight hitting the plastic make the stains evaporate. I know this sounds crazy, but a friend told me about it and it worked! I look wacko leaving it in the sun, but I have clean containers.

Try Cascade. Rub a bit of gel directly on the stain and let it sit a bit. Then, add the hottest water the container can stand. It should come out.

It probably won't come out. Next time spray the plastic container with Pam before you put any kind of tomato sauce in it.
