How do you figure out how much sports cards are worth?
Have had several for years of football and baseball and it takes too long to look each one up. Any pointers??

check to see what they card you want to sell is going for on Ebay. That is a good indicator of market value in my experience.

I use the Beckett's Guide.
heres a word of caution...
if you have multiples of a card worth a lot of money...
it's so valuable because you probably have the majority.
So when you sell it...don't let people know you have other copies...otherwise the value drops.
Never sell the same card at the same show or venue...
there are whistle blowers out there that will ruin your reputation if they catch on.
And don't be suprised if the value in the guide is 30% higher than what people offer you...no one really pays the guides face value except for really HUGE players...

Take the collection to a hobby shop and ask a specialist, but if you do this I suggest taking notes and going to several who are competing for quotes) or go on craigslist.org and pic your location and ask in one of their forums. You may get stuck having to look everyone of them up, but pace yourself, do 10 or so each night until you find the one that will pay off your house! It would be worth it just to know if you have a goldmine or not. One card is all it would take to make the difference. I wish I had the set. I'd happily look them all up just to put the whole thing to bed finally! Best of luck!
