Have you ever been stuck in the elevator?
A transformer just blew in front of the building I work at. I was in the elevator when the power went out. I'm the one that is supposed to help when people get stuck. Who was supposed to help me?

well gosh, who helped you, as obviously you got out! Yes I was stuck in an elevator for maybe 20 minutes, seemed a lot longer at the time, but I obviously got out as well. the maintenance guy got it started again. on my elevator, a battery powered light comes on when power goes out so there is no darkness - and a bell begins to sound loudly as soon as there is a problem. (If you have no backup person, I suggest that you cross train someone. what if you were on vacation that day?) yes, you definitely need to train someone just in case. Would have been nice today!

I used to work for art galleries in Seattle. One day I was delivering this 5 by 7 foot painting to an office in a tall building. I parked in the basement, carried the thing over to the elevator, pushed the button and waited. When the doors opened, I maneuvered the painting (worth about $3,000) into the elevator and got myself in. The doors closed, then I realized the controls were on the other side of the painting. I waited there for about 15 minutes or so until somebody else came over and pushed the button. The doors opened and I said "thanks", and got out and waited for the stupid thing to come back down. I don't talk about this very much.
