Where specifically in the bible does it say jesus IS God?

Please, give chapter and verse.

Don't preach at me.

Don't tell me I'm going to hell for questioning the "word of God".

I dont think God punishes us for being skeptical about religion.

nowhere...it only says he is the son of God

It DOESN'T! Trinitarians will quote certain verses to establish it but it all comes down to the Council of Nicea and really bad translations I think.

The most common is John 1:1 where it says 'In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God'.... But thing about that is is that 'the word', in Jewish history, is God's Wisdom. And most scholars today agree that it isn't saying the word was God, but rather that it was divine, godly, godlike or even a god. If it were THE GOD, it would undermine the fact that there is only ONE God, Don't ya think??

Also, the verse in John 8:58 'before Abramham was, I AM'. He was not calling himself 'I AM' and most translations you read nowadays will give you the correct idea....he was saying he was around even before Abraham was.

John 20:28 "And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.' ...It was actually an exclaimation, like you would do if you saw what he saw...'Oh My God!'

Isaiah 9:6 "And he will be called

    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.'...The 'mighty god' part? Not Almighty God!

Ok I'm ranting lol, but they're all like this and I'm sure you get the gist of it. It doesn't say that Jesus is God, and to say so is blasphemy.

jmsad07 has pretty much summed it up but to answer the Mighty God/Almighty God point -

Is Jesus a true God or a false God because in Isaiah 10:21, God is called the Mighty God. So if Jesus is not the Almighty God and only the mighty God, then that makes Jesus God since GOD is called the mighty God. You cannot have Jesus as a god because there is only one God and this is who is to be worshipped. Isaiah (44:6) said "I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides me".

The Jews and the Pharisees at the time of Jesus wanted Jesus dead because he claimed to be God (John 10:30-34).

This is why Jesus is God and not a god but as I said, jmsad07 has said it better.

Son of God is not necessarily saying that he is less than God. In fact, it is taken by the Jews to be a claim of divinity:

"Jn. 5:18 For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God."

In any case, everything else that exists is created. But Jesus is of God's family: the same kind of being.

The Bible often says that Jesus is divine (I don't know what Bible the others are reading...). One that I read only this morning:

"Col. 2:9 For in Christ all the fulness of the Deity lives in bodily form..."

It is also worth considering that Jesus allows people to worship him. In Acts, Herod allows people to worship him and is struck dead. Paul and Barnabas hear people worshipping them and they frantically run around tearing their clothes and asking the people to stop such blasphemies. If Jesus isn't God, then he is a blasphemer and enemy of God, and not a 'prophet', or a 'good person', or any of the other titles people dismiss him with.

First of all, Jesus spoke in parables, so he never said "I am God."What he did say was, "If you have seen me, YOU HAVE seen the Father." Pretty bold statement if he "wasn't" God. Also, his name itself -- the name Emmanuel means "God with us". And throughout numerous parts in the Old Testament God declares that there is NO other savior besides himself..And I'll let this verse from the Old Testament speak for itseld: Micah - "For behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth."

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

    (Isaiah 9:6 KJVR)

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

    (Matthew 1:23 KJVR)

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

    (Isaiah 7:14 KJVR)

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

    (John 20:28 KJVR)

But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.

    (Hebrews 1:8 KJVR)

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

    (1 John 5:20 KJVR)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

    (John 1:1 KJVR)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    (John 1:14 KJVR)

Uh oh, here come the ludicrous John 1:1 scriptures.

God sent his son, God didn't send himself

    - John 3:16; 17:3

    It doesn't but I do happen to be spiritual and I don't like attacking or criticizing but it appears that some christians are violating the 1st and 2nd Commandments;

    1. "I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me... .."

This commandment is to believe in the existence of God and His influence on events in the world. It prohibits belief in or worship of any additional deities.

    2. "Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."

This prohibits the construction or fashioning of "idols" in the likeness of created things (beasts, fish, birds, people) and worshipping them.

    Great Question!

Nowhere! Why? Because it doesn't teach that belief in the Bible! Jesus is God's Son. NOT GOD! Meaning there is ONLY ONE true God------> which is Jehovah. (Ps. 83:18)
