In the AFC-South, the Tennessee Titans should prove to be more than a formidable opponent for first place.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will make a strong bid for the lead, but that doesn't leave out Tennessee.

Tennessee picked up two big draft picks in 225 lb, 6'-5" NCAA heavyweight quarterback champion Vince Young from Texas and 6', 237 lb. LenDale White from USC.

Also, Tennessee picked up three veteran players as free agents during the off season who will come in as starters, 4 year veteran wideout David Givens, 4 year veteran linebacker David Thornton and 4 year veteran safety Chris Hope.

The Tennessee Titans need to get by the Indianapolis Colts and throw everything at Jacksonville when the time comes. The Jaguars and the Colts are gonna go at it and injuries will occur on both teams. If Tennessee can hold its own, and keep the injuries to a minimum, Tennessee could easily get into a wild card position for the Superbowl. It would be stretch to say they are going to win the AFC-South, but it could happen.

The whole issue with the Tennessee Titans will be management and coaching. If head coach Jeff Fisher can keep it together, injuries being at the top of the list, Tennessee could be in the AFC-Playoffs.

So, here's my prediction for the AFC-South...

    Jacksonville Jaguars

    Indianapolis Colts

    Tennessee Titans

    Houston Texans

I knew once Steve McNair wanted his full contract he would be let go. The bigger question can Billy Volek hold up and take all that comes at him in the past he played so many games got hurt sat out 8-9 games. I cannot understand why the Titian's want Travis Henry he does well so far then loses the ball. Chris Brown can he be productive he played hurt a lot last year. Will Jeff Fisher still be around unless he wins more games Bud Adams will get rid of him. Drew Bennett has loss one to many balls all last year all he could say is gotta make those catches. I'll be amazed if they can play better this year, last year was the worst I ever seen the team play and all they had are excuses.I don't look for them to be contenders until Vince Young is groomed and in there playing and has the weapons needed on offence right now they are still in transaction.

Not this year. Vince Young is promising and may surprise many this year but, would have benefited by watching Steve McNair from the sidelines instead of Billy Volek. I look for the Titans to give Volek enough rope to hang himself and Young a chance to start. The running game is key to spring the two quarterbacks and running backs Chris Brown and Travis Henry can do just that barring any injuries. David Givens should be their go to receiver and Drew Bennett will benefit by not being as covered by other defenses. Finally, the defense has to bring it this year. With the Steelers, Colts, Broncos, and Patriots are primed to win their divisions it leaves little hope for the Titans to be play-off bound this year with the Bengals, Chiefs and Chargers coming off some tough breaks. The Titans will make it interesting especially if Jeff Fisher wants to have his coaching contract renewed. I predict an 8-8 maybe 9-7 record.

No hope for the playoffs this season I'm afraid. Billy Volek most likely will start at the beginning of the season unitl Vince Young gets a handle of the offense. The running battle should be an interesting one between Chris Brown and Travis Henry. Brown is always getting injured, and Henry missed time last year as well, too close to tell who will come out #1 after preseason. After David Givens who really isn't a true #1 receiver, it's just average at best. Bennett is ok, but really doesn't have home run speed. Defense is just average, and their safties and corners are below par. It all adds up as a rebuilding year in Titanland.

Vince Young might be a good quarterback down the road, but not this year, the rookie needs time and good players around him.

Tennessee got some players to have some kind of foundation for the future...that's for sure. Losing McNair was huge...but he was getting up in age and it may have been a good idea to start building another starting QB to take his place. They wont be a playoff team quite yet...give them a year or perhaps two. If I have to guess...maybe 7-9 or 8-8...either way it's an improvement from last season.

However I don't agree with starting Billy Volek. Why draft Vince Young if they are going to use another guy instead? Did they not see what Vince did in the Rose Bowl? Sure he's a young guy, but he wins games...just like that Vick in Atlanta..he's worth using.

There is less hope for few teams in the NFL. The Titans are going to finish in the cellar of the AFC. I guarentee it. They lost the back bone of their team in McNair and are gonna try to throw in a rookie. Vince Young is going to have the luxery of of leading an offense with no line, two sub par running backs and not one legitimate receiving threat. They are also thin on defense. Losing almost any good player they had to Baltimore the last two years. Vince Young will be benched early in favor of Billy Volleck but it will be too late. They need to gut that team and rebuild.

Don't expect anything from them for a while. Young is gonna end up being another McNair or Vick, depends on how tough he turns out to be. Expect Haynesworth to put up big numbers at DT and the usual from Bullock at LB. 6-10 record this year. Make the playoffs in 4 years.

I think the titans have a decent team. The future is Young. What kills them the most is that they are in the same division with Colts and Jags. Vince will be the new wave of QB and they have enough on offense to make a challenge but they need more on defense to make the playoffs.

Getting rid of McNair was probably the right move, given the salary considerations...but drafting Young was not. That's going to guarantee years of failure, right there.

It will take them a couple of years to get to the playoffs, but they are certainly getting better. I think that Vince Young will make a huge impact on the team, and will be the centerpiece of the team. Don't give up on them yet!
