What happens if they can't pick a clean jury in an American legal case?

It was difficult to find an unbiased jury for the trial in Montgomery County, Maryland involving the DC snipers, Lee Boyd Malvo and John Allen Muhammad since most people in the area heard about the killings and were affected by it. They did end up getting a jury, as difficult as it was.

What the prosecuting and defending attorneys try to do is find a set of jurors who could provide the least biased views.
