Can one take a lighter on a plane?

They change the list every time I fly.

Nope... To get a list of the do's and don'ts, check the TSA web site.

Sorry, this one has always been on the list since the "shoe bomber."

Lighters lead the list of the TSA's most confiscated items. Buy a lighter or matches when you arrive.

absolutely not=they prohibited them at the beginning of this year and TSA will take it from you. But speaking of lighter, a lighter carry one would be welcomed with much more enthusiasm!

Yes, they are dropping that restriction. I am not sure when it will take effect but soon if not already.

I carried my Bic the last time I flew and the metal detectors didn't pick it up... I had matches just in case though.

Pretty soon you are not going to be able to take anything on a plane but yourself.

No you cannot. They will confiscate it.

If memory serves they confiscate 8000 lighters a day in US airports.

It appears no. Guess TSA wanted to allow but were shot down here is a link to TSA for more info: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm

I think it's probably safer if you just check it. Besides, why would you need a lighter on board..?

I think the answer is no.

Leave yours home. Buy another after you arrive.
