I belive that Animals are more aware then us humans, you can read distress on a dog. as far as world politics i dont think the squirrels sit in the trees and discuss the stock market!!

Btw, animals included mammals and humans by rights are mammals. Whether any other species are more aware of the world around them then human? It really depends on what factors or which areas are you referring to. Insects such as bees are said to be able to tell the weather before it change, birds knew when the seasons would change and start the migrating, our pets always seem to be able to understand our feeling and comfort us in their little ways, and most animals (excluding humans) are said to be able to feel the pressence of the "others". And those who live near the forest edges can always see wild animals raving through their bins or using their pool as a water hole or even to pleasure theirselves. Basically, i believe that all these are down to our survival instincts! We have to be aware so to survive, this rule apply to all living creatures.

Personally, I think they are. I'm not being scientific. David Attenborough cld help u far more.

Actually... squirrels may well sit in trees discussing the stock market...but their stock is acorns and where they've invested them for the winter....they also run a co-op. All of 'em can get at the acorns. Not like us eh?

I think so. I watched the birds all leave the trees before I could see the shuttle in the sky on the 4th and I was at least an hours drive away from the lift off. Have seen my daughter's dog go to the window before I saw or heard her car as she came home from shopping. He knew she was there. Elephants ran to the mountians when the tsunami came. Yes, they are more aware than we are.

I know that dogs understand about as much as a 3 year old, and are able to read emotions better than most people. They understand body language, especially. Our dog knows that if we put her leash on at the back door, she's going out, but if it's in the living room, she's going for a car ride. She knows that if I take her by the collar, I'll be leading her into the bathroom for a bath, so she walks straight in and hops in the tub without me saying a word. And she knows her world better than we imagined--she had the house layout memorized so well, the vet had to tell us that she had gone blind!

I saw an interesting show on tv last night, concerning killer whales. If you would like to read something cool, that shows these animals plan and think do a search on "Killer Whales" and "Eden".

Below is a link i found by doing that search. It's a very factual, recorded event that is still taking place.
