I am a member of a MOPS group in Ohio. Our group has a speaker, snacks, a craft, discussion group and we do a prayer with the discussion group. You don't have to pray if you don't want to. I don't belong to the church where my MOPS group meets and no one has pressured me to join. I love my MOPS group. I've met a lot of other women with children. I'm in a play group with some of them. We also do social activities once a month without the kids - dinner at a fondue restaurant, bowling, shopping near Christmas time, pizza and movie night, game night, etc. My best friend is in a MOPS group in Indiana. Her group isn't as "churchy" as mine. So I think it depends on the group. You could go to a meeting and see if you like it . Just tell them you want to try it before paying the $20 annual fee. If you don't like it, you don't have to go back. I met a woman through MOPS who I'm still friends with but doesn't go to the meetings anymore because it wasn't for her. I think MOPS is a great organization and I'm glad I found it. Best of luck finding a group that meets your needs.

Love it! It is church based and is a very small topic of conversation, but places christian values into topics, it is a support group for moms of young children and you get a break in a safe and friendly environment. Our last mops, which broke in the summer we resume in the fall, we got a pedicure, massage from a professional and made bath salts! It was so fun also we eat snacks usually! Mostly it is just a relaxing few hours to be around moms who are trying to be the best they can be and get a much needed break with a faith based group! hope this helps, i just joined last year and most of the women do not attend the same church the meetings are held at. Variety of faiths and safe childcare provided

I am not a member of MOPs, but they do have it at our church. My mom is one of the mentors. They bring in speakers and things like that. There are lots of ladies that are members of MOPs, but aren't members of our church, so I'm not sure how church-related it is. If you'd like more info, the website for MOPs is www.mops.org.

Yes. It's centered around church. I went for a little bit, but as usual, it was full of hypocrits. I didn't feel comfortable, so I stopped going. My son loved it because he got to play with other kids while I was with the mommys, but to be honest, it really wasn't that interesting.
