In light of fostering deeper discusions...I'll rephrase my last question:?

A person (I won't single her out, but she USES CAPS A LOT), posted a question regarding a "Sexually Deviant" young man in her church who had been "cured" of what I assume was homosexuality.

Before I could post my answer, it said the question had been deleted by the poster (or Yahoo! Answers). Therefore, I'd like to pose the question without being mean:

"Can you cure homosexuality?"

My answer? Absolutely no. There's nothing to cure. How can someone who is gay go to a "camp" and come back straight? It just doesn't work like that. They more likely come back damaged.

What do you think? Can you cure it?

Update:

*Damaged and pretending to be straight.

Update 2:

Danielle S. - AMAZING. I think you hit it exactly on the head there.

I'm straight and I'm 100% for gay rights. Being gay is not a disease and isn't 'curable' any more than being hetero is curable. But I think there is a small percentage of people for whom living a gay lifestyle is a subconscious expression of rebellion against society. These are discontented people who "punish" themselves through feeling victimized and they crave the attention that goes along with that. Attention from a group of Christians trying to "cure" them of their "homosexuality" is very appealing to that kind of person, I suspect, and they love the continued attention they get when they preach to others about how 'God' healed them of their terrible "disease".

    Interesting.

Some people do seem to have a natural predeliction toward unusual sexual behavior. If you don't think so, check out some of the porn on your internet, but, before you do, make sure you haven't eaten first, cuz there are actual PICTURES on some of those sites (my son showed me).

Is there a cure? Yes, I think there is. I think Jesus, the same God Who made both the person, and the laws about what is and is not healthy sex, can "cure" anybody who will come to Him and accept His perscription. (Of course, the person must actually WANT to be cured. Obviously, if you don't think you are sick, you won't go to visit the Physician.)

I somewhat have self belief in love between a guy and a girl. Is it a game? perhaps, besides the undeniable fact that that is conceivable to alter into conscious of of each and every thing that occurs to us in life as being area of a game. If that is not a game, what's it? A burden? A undertaking? an threat? that is not in basic terms conceivable for actual like to exist between a guy and a girl, it actual happens for particularly some human beings. what's likewise genuine is that a lot of human beings finally end up being cynical and asserting and feeling unfavourable issues approximately love. Is it love's fault, or ought to that is that some human beings only are not all that great having having and preserving relationships? From what i can tell, love between a guy and a girl can rather exist, yet so can love between a guy and a guy, a girl and a girl and the different combos all human beings can arise with. If fact, that is conceivable to love your self, different human beings and all that exists in introduction. If that is area of a game, i could desire to maintain enjoying!

  • I don't think so. I do not thing being homosexual is a disease. I honestly don't know if it right, but I do not think homosexuals are bad people.

The word 'cure' is very ridiculous. I believe some people can be confused. For instance, a lot of girls go through a 'bi-sexual' faze in high school, even though they are not truly bi-sexual.

In regards to that person, hopefully, someone can 'cure' her judgmental attitude.

    Can you cure Alcoholism?

    Can you cure a pedephile?

    Can you cure a homosexual?

The answer to all these questions is NO.

What can be done with the strength of GOD is control these weaknessess.

Sin is disobeying GOD. The only way to fight sin is to flee from the temptation to Sin. God provides the strength of fight off these thoughts and thus the temptation to act upon them.

Will a homesexual suddenly stop having lustful thoughts for another man? NO. But what he will be able to do , is remembe that it is a sin, like all other sin, and it either controls him, or he controls it.

Does the alcoholic still lust for the alcohol? Yes. But he has learned that he cannot let it control him, he must control it.

For anything that controls you is your GOD or idol. I submit myself to GOD.

no it isnt a choice so it cant be fixed. it is just there it cant be cured. there is nothing to be cured. so we are attracted to others from the same sex that doesnt mean were evil and dirty.

god nor jesus never said anything about homosexuality one of the apostles did. and although the apostles are important there words shouldnt be taken as gospel.

It's a choice. Grant it some people are perhaps more inclined to entertain the temptation then others. This is where we have to carry our own cross & crucify our own flesh in the spiritual sense. If I'm a gossiper, I have to deny my back biting urges. If I lust, I have to put away fleshly desires tht are outside of marriage. The mind is corruptible. Promiscuity can be addicting so can stealing, pedophilia, overeating, gambling, etc. Jesus can free you from sin. For some, the desires are quenched and eradicated by the spirit of God. For most, I think they have to work at it, committing themselves to Christ daily, denying themselves the lust of the flesh.

i'd say no. homosexuality is not a disease. I would say its a preference...and I think the preference can be changed...by the individual him/herself. Of course, external influences can cause this person to change his or her preferences as well.
