We hired a nanny in February, even though she had a child. She lied about being able to cook?
(she couldn't even heat soup!) after three weeks of trying to teach her, I gave up and fired her. I told her that she had 4 weeks to move out (this is a live in position, she has a 'cottage' behind our house) SHE STILL HASN'T MOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am at my wits end. When we asked her to move three weeks ago she said her brother and sister in law were wanting her to move in with them but she told them that she wasn't moving from here until we asked her to! I feel so betrayed! And I am at the point that I told her she has to the first to move or start paying rent. Do you agree or disagree? (We pay all utilites and upkeep the cottage, etc.)
When we asked her to move (my husband was with me)so we asked her as a couple. We have a written contract that states she will have a maximum of 30 days to remove her belongings in the event of termination of the agreement for any reason by us. (2 weeks if she quits)
I did ck her references, we did a background ck. This wasn't our first nanny. But she was the only awful experience that we have had.
I care for my children exceptionally well. I am a respected physician in my area, which is a mile stone due to my age! A nanny is far better than any daycare choices because both children have asthma and become extremely sick when exposed to other sick children. This worked well for me. Word of advice.... grow up and get a life.

Call the Police.
I am assuming she isn't paying rent soo with that you have no legal obligation to let her live there. And if she is paying rent then stop accepting her monthly rent payments.
If that doesn't work...(it should) then you may have to go to court and have her forced out.
I do think the police will see my side of it since she is staying in your cottage house unwelcomed and not paying rent.
Good Luck
This sounds like a bad lifetime Movie!!!
Hope it works out.
p.s. Do not accept her rent check!!! DO NOT....sorry I just read that!! Ohh and if you call the police right now I guarantee you they will escort her off your property.

In the strictest sense, you had an agreement and by lying, she broke it. Question: Do you have a written contract? If so, you are obligated by the terms of that contract. In the absence of a written contract (or if the contract does not speak to this issue), then what was the verbal understanding. Was cooking clearly defined as one of her responsibilities? Was housing only contingent upon her being employed as a nanny? Assuming that she was justifiably fired and asked to leave, she is now trespassing. You could call the police and have her physically removed.
I would suggest you and your husband speaking with her again as a couple. Explain that the employment arrangement did not work and give her a date to move in writing. Also explain verbally and in the letter that if she is not out by that date, you will have her and her child removed by your local authorities.
Perhaps as an extra bone to get her out, offer some monetary amount to help offset any moving expenses...maybe $250 or something. It's not much, but it may get her thinking.

Your well within your rights to ask her to pay rent, but if she is lieing to be hired on as a nanny she probably wont pay rent either, I'd just tell her to get out, if she still doesn't leave when she goes out for something change the locks on the cottage and when she comes back tell her that you'll let her in to pack her things and go, if she still doesn't leave call the cops.

You already fired her and asked her to move out and she hasn't so I would call the authorities, and get them to escort her off your property, and since you she didnot move out when you told her to I belive you can collect rent from her!! But I would not kep her around even if she will pay you rent each month!! But do collect waht is due to you from the time you aske d her to move out untill the dasy she actually does good luck
can I have the Job! I can cook!! and I like too!!
KEEP ON YAHOOING!!

Well, if I was you I would just get the police involved and they will make her get out. SHe is apparently not going to move out unless you use force, so that would probably be your best route to go. You do not have a lease and she has no right to stay there. Most people have to be given at least one months notice to move and since you have given that to her get the police to get her out.

She lied about her ability to perform the essential duties of the job. Housing is a portion of her wages. Once you fired her, her employment and wages(housing included) should be ended. Unless you have permitted her to continue working for you she needs to leave so you can hire a replacement.

Call the police and tell them you have evicted this woman and she's still there. They will help you remove her. Tell her this and maybe she'll finally leave. If she doesn't, they come and escort her out or arrest her. I'd contact DHS, too, to make sure the child is OK.

Either charge her rent and make her sign and fill out a rental agreement or call the police on her. She is squatting. You really need to call your lawyer and find out what you can do, what you want to do, and how to proceed.

She is trespassing, call the authorities. Try to phrase your problem in the form of a question next time.
