What are some breathing techniques I can use at work?
I am very stressed out and need some thing to clear my mind and bring me peace while at my desk. Breathing? Chanting?

Ok, this is definitely my area of expertise...do some deep breathing to begin with....sit up straight or if you can lean back and prop your legs up, inhale slowly to a count of three in through your nose, pause for 1 second....then exhale slowly to a count of three, out through your mouth...like blowing out candles and pause then start in again. You do this very slowly, in and out for about three to five minutes. While you are doing this, close your eyes and begin to focus your mind's eye on something relaxing....imagine youself on the beach or in the mountains, try to feel the warmth of the sun or listen for the nature sounds....Some times it's helpful to have a relaxing photo nearby and you can stare at that to help relax.
Now, let me go a little further by mentioning aromatherapy and relaxation music to add to your breathing routine....while breathing, try diffusing lavender to help calm...or listen to relaxation music.
I hope this helps. I have lots more information at my stress management website.

You need to practice meditation. There are several forms involving more complex energy manipulation and altered brain states (and of course you are welcome to e-mail or IM me if you would like more information on these), but for starters:
Basic Breath Meditation:
Count by heartbeats... inhale for four heartbeats, being sure to completely fill up your lungs (yes, this is unusual and may feel weird), focusing your mind as if the air is going all the way to your abdomen. Then hold your breath for four heartbeats. Then exhale for four heartbeats. Hold, and repeat. As you do this, you will naturally begin to breathe more slowly, and your heartbeats will slow down. Still, count heartbeats, as your breathing becomes slower and slower.
Grounding:
While meditating, visualize roots like those of a tree coming down out of the soles of your feet and into the Earth. When you inhale, allow the Earth's energy to come up and fill you. When you exhale, push all the blocked and stagnant physical energy (yes, this is real energy, whether most scientists have machines that can detect it or not), along with any thoughts, feelings, or emotions you want to cleanse yourself of.
White Light Meditation:
While performing the breath meditation, visualize your body surrounded in an aura of white energy. As you inhale, imagine that energy coming into you and filling your body. As you exhale, imagine it going to the edge of your aura, and filling in backwards from there. Continue this until you are completely filled with the energy.
Of course there are many, many more forms of meditation and breathing exercises, but these are good for focus, cleansing, and energizing.

Breathe in, and out.
