Is Dashboard Confessional a emo band? Please only answer if you have a serious, educated opinion.?

As far as being emo goes, Dashboard Confessional would probably be considered very emo. Their lyrics are mostly about emotions, and they whine a lot. And that just about wraps it up.

So walk in there on Monday, deliver the line, and watch your coworker start to cry. Too much emo, I say.

This is actually an interesting question.

Judging by their songs and lyrics, one could assume that they are emo. However, Dashboard seems to be nothing like a typical emo band. Their songs just seem to have a happier mood to them than your average depressing emo song. This is probably mostly atrributed to the instrumental portion of their music.

If you wanted to get real technical, you could analyze how many of their songs are in a major scale, as opposed to a more sad sounding minor scale that you may find in other "emo" songs.

Despite this however, I think Dashboard would still technically be considered emo. Don't let this alter your opinion of them though, because personally I think Dashboard has some great music.

Just remember that just because something falls under a certain genre doesn't automatically mean that they "suck". Keep an open mind. =)

Yes, they are an emo band....they're probably responsible for starting this whole round of emo poseurs, them and Good Charlotte.....and I say poser only in the sense that they somehow made emo worse than it was back in the 80's.
