Military Service?

Why is it, that people who were in the military and couldn't hack it feel the need to bash the military once they're out. Just because some people can't deal with the demands, doesn't mean that others should have to put up with the unpatriotic comments of others. How would you suggest dealing with jerks that are a detriment and embarassment to the USA?

    Laugh at them.

For example the next time erudite makes one of his drug/alcohol induced rants - just ridicule him in his reply.

He generally has enough factual errors in every post that we have lots of material.

While some of the answers a good I am offended by some of the stupidity that some people have. Just to set the record straight.

There are a lot of people that talk bad about the military who are not able to make it, but there are also people who do make it and still talk bad. This is probably the same reason why people talk bad about a lot of things, they simply are not happy unless they are complaining. It is important to note that you get out of the military what you put into it. If you are a follower, it is probably cause you are a follower. Not everyone can be a true leader. I spent 14 years in, got discharged on a medical. But thanks to my training and skills, and benifits, where I was once enlisted, I am now a College Professor. (on a side note, please know that teh 10th Mountain did not save the Rangers in Somalia, I should know I was there)

well I was active military for over 8 years. I was an staff sergent when I got out. I made the rank in 7 years. I was also department on the ARMY selected to be a recuriter, and top graduiet in my class at B-knok. I was in the top 10% of the ARMY. I had a PT score over 300. (I was on the extended scale) I was on the fast track, I could have done whatever I wanted.

Some jobs the army wants people to do the select them to do it. But they only pick the top 10% to certain things. I was one of thoses soldiers.

I think the milatary makes you try to be stupid. everything is made so you do not have to think. I belive they come close to brain washing you. Im very proud of what I did in the army. But Im glad it is behind me aswell. I think the milatery hold you back a little.

if a person want to be a follower join the military.

I think they trat people like they are stupid. and only the smart people know that, because all the outher people are to stupid to know any difference.

There is alot of waste in the military, if it was a bussiness it would of failed along time ago. Alot of people need it because they can not make it on the outside. I think they are just telling you how it is. They know they were their.

I was in during the first war in Iraq, and I was in the unit (10 th Mountain divison ) that saved those rangers in Solimia. Ive killed people in war and saved people in war. I was a part of something that was so good they made a movie about it, I have the right to say what I want. I earned the right to say what I want. good or bad.

First of all, not all people who get out of the military couldn't "hack it". A good majority of them used the military as a stepping stone into another career or for the educational benefits. They served loyally and got out when their contract expired. Others have a multitude of other reasons for getting out other than not being able to "hack it". I myself served for fifteen years and got out on a medical discharge, not because I couldn't "hack it". If I or any other veteran decides to bad mouth the military, we have the right because we know what we are speaking about.

Second of all, I would support anybody's right to speak their mind. That is what I and the others served for, to preserve the liberties of this country. Seems to me that you are the one being unpatriotic and a detriment and embarrassment. You seem to be speaking without knowing what you are talking about. You are lumping vetarans all into one category and you are trying to take away a basic right that we have been given by the country we served. The next time you feel like you have the need to stifle someone else's speech, especially if you disagree with it, move to a country where people do not have a right to dissent and see how you feel.

For the record the freedom of speach your using right know to put them down and incite anger toward them,

Is the same right they have to bash the military and be a jerk who is a detriment and embarassment to the USA?

I just tend to condider the source because it's obvious that they didn't have the mental disipline to hack it. No one made them sign their name on the dotted line. They figured it was going to be easy but learned a nasty truth once they got in. The next time you run into one of these people ask them why they joined in the first place.

First, join and spend some time in the military to know more about the subject. Walk in the soldier's shoes.

Blow them off It sounds hard but as long as you know that you stand for something dont let jerks like that make you sink to there level. Our military deserve our support.

  • charge them with treason and shoot em on sight or kick em out of the country all together.
