Computer having random shutdowns and restarts?

My computer was having problems and acting kinda funny so I reformatted it and reinstalled all the drivers. I have an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 graphics card and I downloaded the newest drivers for this from their site. Now my computer will randomly shut down and restart. It doesn't seem to matter what I am doing at the time. I do send the report to Microsoft and the report I get back states that the stop error is caused by a video adapter device driver.

STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

- or -

STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M

is the error codes that are listed. It further states that there are 2 options to fix this ... 1) download the latest drivers (I have)..... or 2) Manually decrease Hardware Acceleration for your video adapter

I have done both to try to solve this problem.... neither one has worked. It wasn't randomly shutting down/restarting until after I reformatted the drive. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Might be a hardware problem, sounds like a driver issue, go to driver magic.com and let them run a check to update all drivers in your machine, then go to trend micro.com, and do a house call on your machine, this checks for registry errors, and resort and straightens out most of the problems ailing your machine, and both of these are free.

those are the three places to look for the driver you need go in order from top to bottom. If the first driver doesn't work, download the next and keep trying til you get it.
