Is there any program that WILL delete any file out there?
I have a file that is infected with a virus and Norton cannot delete it and I cannot manullay delete it becase it is being used by some program or something. I have tried many deleteing programs that say it WILL delete it but they all FAIL! Anyone who can tell me a program that can delete this and it works, you will recieve 20 points. I will TRY to find a way to get you 20 points. The file is located in C:\Windows\TEMP\win4FD.tep.exe. I have tried changing the file name, and it works, I can not just delete the file.
This file is multiplying every hour or so. It is a trojan, and this thing is manipulating windows xp into making me not able ot delete it.
Command Prompt does not work.

You don't need a program.
Boot your computer into Safe Mode. (press F8 during boot-up) Once you get to your desktop, use Windows Explorer to delete the file.
If that doesn't work, boot your computer from your Windows CD and then manually delete the file.

I guess you could use a program. Or you could open up a command prompt screen, and then kill explorer.exe through task manager. change to the windows temp directory "cd C:\windows\temp" and delete the file "del win4fd.tep.exe" Then restart explorer.exe with "new task" in task manager. No restarting or safe mode necessary.

You need to use the proper procedure to open up the hidden files and folders in your computer. This procedure, although written for Spyware removal, can be used doing an Anti-Virus scan. Just use a different program.

You need to go into safe mode and delete the file, but if it is an important window file, you will have to repair it instead over deleting it. But if it is an unimportant file, just go into safe mode, and it will let you delete it there.

a small, FREEWARE program called 'MOVE ON BOOT' will resolve your issue. get it at majorgeeks or snapfiles. if not, try the symantec site for specific instructions. this can be a long, involved process, and you need to be comfortable with command line use, but they have extensive knowledge base.
