Why can't "why not ask Don" ?

Keep his bloody answers short ????

It's not heroic to cut and copy from a site to your answer - be original at that time - you can do it on your site but not in a public forum.

And to all the others - It is irritating - keep your answers short and to the point.

When someone asks a complex question, you cannot always give a simple answer. And I have read his answers, and I would say that most of them don't involve copy/paste. But when they do, the information seems relevant. And if someone is honestly looking for answers, and not just brooking an argument, why not provide relevant data?

I would rather see good information that came from someone smarter than I copied and pasted in an answer, than for someone to guess an answer and hope that it is right.

No I don't agree. I don't cut and paste from sites, but I don't keep my answers short either, not usually anyway.

People are on YA not only for the sake of giving you the answers, but for the sake of giving the answers they want to give. The act of communicating is in itself what they're there for (at least in part) and as thus people don't want to artifically limit themselves.

I know I personally have the tendency to rant about a topic. I do this for a combination of reasons: sometimes I just want to fully explore the question in general, sometimes I just use 20 words when 1 would have sufficed because it's part of my communication style.

If you don't like long responses, don't read them, and don't give them best answer. It's that simple: if people really want best answer, they'll either stop posting so long, or stop getting it.

I agree. I have never copied any answers. I keep my answers short and to the point.

speak for yourself... i find it helpful... there is nothing in the guidelines that say answers have to be short... stop making up rules for your sake... your not the only one using YA...

Keep up the good work "why not ask Don"

I dont dislike the guy, I don't know him.... I do wish he would compress the answers into his own words. Copy and pasting does nothing and people tend not to read long posts.

well, you are in real trouble if you don't like to read!

Reading is the only hobby which has got lost in the world now.

too many abbreviations?? too many slashes, and comas , less words and less knowledge.

Read and grow, otherwise you will be still!
