Family photo album with the best of the candid shots, new camera, fresh flowers, new home decor, day trip to somewhere fun, a hand written note about your favorite memory with her, calling cards if she lives far from someone she loves, books, these are some of the best gifts I have ever received from anybody, and all were received from my niece or my nephew. It's really hard to say since you don't give much info on your aunt, but these did it for me.
Good luck.

It's not a very personal gift, but a prepaid credit card would allow her to go wherever she wanted-including the web-to get whatever she wanted. Maybe a gift certificate for a massage!

Does she like to read? I always go with a gift certificate to a bookstore when I'm not sure. Or a gift certificate to a restaurant, then she can have a night out.

Mmmm...for 48 year-old aunty. Maybe you can try to give her flowers...because age 48 means that she needs to care about herself much more than before, and coz of that you need to support her. Or find something related with her job. If you can find it, she will feel warm coz there are many people that really care about her. Don't give her food. Well hope you can find something valuable for her, Good Luck!

How about a card, maybe write a poem if you know how. Buy her some a outfit something like that. Just do something that'll make her feel special. Older women love perfume!

first of all you need to find out what she likes, what is it she has been wanting to do that she finds interesting or you can treat her out to a movie and dinner for two, meaning just you and her, this is something she would treasure for ever cause the two of you would just spend some time alone together and maybe jsut get to know each other better...

Does she like movies? Pride and Prejudice? Does she read? Is she a Republican (Ann Coulter) Democrat (Anderson Cooper). Does she like coffee? (that's my favorite gift - good beans). Take her out to her favorite restaurant.
