Is a 500 Watt power supply enough for an OCed gaming rig?

I'm putting together a gaming rig based on THG's Intel 805 D 4.1 GHz overclocking article (can be found at Tom's Hardware Guide "Can it be true? A 4.1 GHz processor for $130?" ) and I'm stuck with a 500 Watt Dynex (bleh) PSU. I have 2 SLIed nVidia 7600 GT graphics cards. My question is, how much of a load increase is there between a single 7600 GT card and two 7600 GT cards? I'm sure it's not a linear relationship, or is it?

A quality 500 watt PSU should be sufficient depending on your system; but a 500 Watt Dynex (bleh) sounds to me like you answered your own question. If you're going to upgrade I would probably pick the Seasonic S12-600.

That would depend on the load that the cards are taking on. If I was doing SLI I would want a 600W PSU. Also, would depend on how many HD, CD, DVD, RAM, fans. All that good stuff adds up. I am sure that if you are over clocking to 4.1 GHz that you are not using stock cooling so add that as well.

500 watts should be enough to run all that but bigger is always better. Watch your temperature settings. Good luck!

if you can afford those video cards, you can afford a decent power supply. thats too mcuh for 500w get a 1kw.
