What is the difference between Moksha and Buddhist Enligthenment?
In Hinduism, as I understand it, Moksha is when you realize the true nature of reality (as either non-dual or partially dual, depending on the tradition) and are freed from Samsara (the cycle of death and rebirth, and the suffering that goes along with it) and become one with Brahman. How is this different from the Buddhist concept of reaching enlightenment, becoming a Buddha, and being freed from death and rebirth. Is Buddhism merely the concept of Moksha disentangled from the rest of Hinduism, or am I missing something here?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAnyone have info on emigrating from the US?
Specifically, I was looking for a forum for US expatriates or something like that, or general immigration/naturalization procedures for EU nations (in particular, UK or France) and Asian nations (in particular, Japan or South Korea) if anyone could send me some links that would be great!
1 AnswerImmigration1 decade agoThe Chinese government buying scientists?
I've heard a lot of people talk about how China is eagerly looking for western scientists, and will offer huge grants as well as accommodations for scientists who will come and work for them, but I haven't been able to find any concrete information on this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoWhat bands are similar to X Japan?
I've recently discovered X Japan and I think their music is amazing, particularly the later progressive albums. My question is, what other J-Rock bands are out there with anything close to the same level of skill & emphasis on soulful ballads like X Japan?

I'm trying to sell my custom pretty new desktop gaming PC, and I'm wondering what would be the best venue? I mean, ebay is obvious, but are there any other websites dedicated to PC trading? Or am I more likely to get more if I sell locally?
5 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoAn old question for theists reframed in a way that you can't evade: test your might!?
A criticism of the Big Bang is that it, since the universe came from nothingness before the Big Bang how can something come from nothingness? God must have done it.
But where did God come from? A response is that he exists out of time, however, time is not a spatial location but rather a dimension of our universe, so it's impossible for anything to exist outside of it, even things existing in lower or higher dimensions.
Anyway, to the point: It may be hard to explain how the universe originating from the Big Bang came from nothing, even though this new universe is a very *simple* burst of energy and matter, but isn't it harder to explain how God, who is intelligent and almighty and thus extremely *complex* came from nothing? Isn't it more rediculous to assume that out of an explosion comes a bunch of chaotic junk rather than the Statue of Liberty, or out of a pile of metal just slag rather than a '76 Chevy? Please respond without reference to scripture, instead using your own logic.

In the movie 300, the greatest movie ever made, in the scene where the immortals attack the spartans, who are hiding behind a pile of bodies, once the ranks clash, and immediately after Leonidas kills the first Immortal, is it an Immortal who then drop-kicks a spartan, or the other way around?
6 AnswersMovies1 decade agoHas anyone ever heard the legend of meeting yourself?
Very rarely, I'll hear references to a legend or myth from some culture about the idea that if you walk far enough, you'll eventually meet yourself, and then something spiritually significant happens. I haven't been able to find any information about this, so I was wondering if anyone knows more about this, like what culture(s) it's from, the exact nature of the myth, etc.

1 AnswerLanguages1 decade agoIs a 500 Watt power supply enough for an OCed gaming rig?
I'm putting together a gaming rig based on THG's Intel 805 D 4.1 GHz overclocking article (can be found at Tom's Hardware Guide "Can it be true? A 4.1 GHz processor for $130?" ) and I'm stuck with a 500 Watt Dynex (bleh) PSU. I have 2 SLIed nVidia 7600 GT graphics cards. My question is, how much of a load increase is there between a single 7600 GT card and two 7600 GT cards? I'm sure it's not a linear relationship, or is it?
