Religion, Politics, Homosexuality, Why fight over it?

I see a lot of questions here about religion, politics etc. I can see asking out of curiosity, but to compare, put down, and degrade doesn't make any sense. If everyone would quit pushing their beliefs on others, and keep it between their own people, maybe we wouldn't have all these problems with wars and hate crimes.

Anyone else want to add to this? I can't seem to express what I trully want to say. Besides, "Can't we all just get along?"

We've been raised in the Abrahamic faith tradition. It is so imbued with 'one-upmanship' that it is difficult to get along. There's the finger-pointing, name-calling, and then the 'getting on a high horse' that are so much a part of Judaism, Christianity and Islam that it spills over and permeates our way of relating to everyone.

If only we could take the example of the Founders of the United States, and leave religion at church and be citizens the rest of the week. What they meant by 'all men were created equal' was that nobody is 'chosen' or 'aryan' or 'better' just . . .

    Innocent question yours!

Up in the world and all along POLITIC & RELIGION have always been the major cause for hatred and war! There have been no civil war for different sexuality till now, but absurd quarrels often happened around. Though sexuality can have some religious background too, it was better to divide the different topics because there is a lot to say about any single topic.

    That's even the world history!

    About politic & religion we can talk about the recent war in Iraq/ Afghanistan/ Uzbekistan/ Yemen/ Lebanon/ Israel/ Ivory Coast/ Laos/ Pakistan/ Djibouti/ etc. etc.

As like as for sexuality anything begins with power, prejudices and intolerance.

It just is the human genre and there is nothing to do!

As much as I'd like that to happen, it's pretty much impossible. If someone has a strong opinion about religion, politics, etc, they, in all likelihood, want to induce some kind of change in society so that it reflects their ideas about what is moral and good. In other words, they want to try to demonstrate why their opinion is the best in order to win over others with differing opinions. Unfortunately the average person is, well, average and thereby prone to pettiness. This is where all the strife originates.

Religion, Politics, Homosexuality - "It is what it is".

To argue over religion and homosexuality, won't change anything and will offend people.

I believe politics continuously has the need of being discussed. Eg. Australian Prime Minister bringing in the GST, (few years ago now), I believe that needed to be argued about. I believe arguments over voting etc are necessary so people can learn the most about who they will benefit most from by voting for them. Hope you understand. I agree with you about the first to.

Ask Mel Gibson what he thinks of gays. It is well known that he is homophobic, and now he has come out as being anti-Jewish (despite his apologies which were only made to save his face), and his alcoholism is well out of hand.

People just like to be bigots. If something or someone is not exactly in line with their narrow-minded beliefs, then they want to push their point and argue and fight.

Look at the wars in the world -- fought in the name of god. What? For lack of a better excuse?

Simply because people want to fight for their own rights to make their lives better, make themselves feel powerful, contended and satisfied.

Everybody is different and are entitled to have their own opinions of religion, politics and homosexuality. However, tension and egoism begins when things get too complicated and unethical. I think that's part of humankind. Human fight to live.

it's not about religion, politics and being gay. It's about people's own insecurities. They turn their feelings and emotions political so it's a safe playing field.

Do you want to bash gays or admit that you father drank and hung out with men?

Unfortunately we all CAN'T get along. It's a fact of life and we - as a specis - have proven it! (even as we speak!)

Just be yourself and get past (or away from) all the negatives.

as a christian it is not right for us to be little or argue abotu the differences of the world. As Jesus did he hung around the unbelievers. He loved them and spoke of love. we need to be an example of Jesus. No one ever becomes a christian because they were told they were stupid for not believe and that they are going to hell for it.
