Problem with the field?
I am the 1st and only girl to play tackle football on an all boys team where i live. I live in a small town and everybody looks up to me for that. I've played for two years on the all boys team and this year i've decided to watch from the sideline. My mom really wants me to play and I can't even go to the grocery store w/o n-e-1 saying something negative about me not playing. The only person that supports my decision is my boyfriend. I feel like if i don't play than i'll let my mom and everyone else down and if i do play than it won't be something i enjoy doing n-e-more.

What a coincidence. My daughter also played football for a all boys team in a small town. She has also decided not to play this year. In fact the person that asked this question is my daughter. I love her and would support any decision that she makes in her life. I sometimes just question the reasoning why she would just quit. The whole story is this. She is a good football player and was even named the best offensive line man. She has the respect of her team and her community. She had to fight to play at first and she was so passionate about it that it is confusing for her to just decide to quit. I really want to just understand why?? Whatever your decision is you will always have my love and support. Don't worry about letting me down because I haven't been disappointed in you yet. I am a pretty lucky mom for having a kid like you. I just want to make sure that you are happy and that you are not quitting something that I know that you loved at least at one time. Varsity Football is harsh and it takes a lot of heart to be determined to play. If you don't think that you have it in you then don't. I wont look down on you. As far as what everyone else thinks...... Since when have you ever cared what anyone thinks about you? You have already accomplished so much in this little community. Girls can now play any sport that they want to and boy's are cheerleaders now. You have guts chica. I love you. Mom

First off, congrats on your accomplishments. You do what you feel is right for you, not for anyone else. Your only answer needs to be, "Because I want to." Best of luck in all your endeavors.
