Other than the birth of my children? Something that might be equally impressive to all who saw it?
That would be a total eclipse of the sun (in Walla Walla, Washington in 1979). The sky got so dark, the stars came out. Birds started to sing like at sunset. The sun's corona is much bigger than shown in photographs of eclipses - it takes up a big chunk of the sky.
A few of the effects changes in seconds. And that gives it an immediacy that seems at odd with the objects being 238,000 and 93,000,000 miles away. A juxtaposition of huge objects/distances with the very quick changes that take place.
When the aurora ("northern lights") fills up the entire sky, it is pretty impressive too. But not so uncommon (for me).

This was 25 years ago, before the open market and foreign products were so pervasive...but I was in a Turkish village where there were only dirt roads, no electricity, to attend an engagement ceremony. The family had set up little wooden chairs outside in a field, under the stars. The couple exchanged vows and rings, which were attached by a ribbon that was ceremoniously cut. Then the music and dancing began. A lady dressed in peasant pantaloons came around and passed out packages of biscuits, and gave each guest a bottle of (warm) coke. This was such a huge deal for them, to have these bottles of coke to celebrate the event. I was sitting there, thousands of miles from home, listening to the most exotic music in a strange land. I couldn't understand a word that was being said (I was an exchange student and had only been there for a couple of weeks at this time) but I was sipping on a coke, of all things. I think it hit me then just how vastly different much of the world lives, how very much Americans take for granted, and how little we know about people in other countries. These people did not have lights or running water or tvs and were not being bombarded by daily images telling them how they should look, what they should wear, etc. but they loved the American product coke nonetheless. Our (the U.S.) infuence on others was really apparent to me in that moment.

Nothing in particular is unforgettable to mind. Some moments like getting my first job and getting fired for the first time will stand out for a long time in my mind. Probably forever.

Have you ever watched a baby sleep and see him/her do that little sucking motion? I always thought that was the most adorable thing in the world. But the first time I saw my own child do that...I was so overwhelmed that I cried.
That is the most unforgettable thing I have ever seen!

Walking around a dead body of a man, face-down in the gutter. This took place in Zona Rosa, Mexico City. With cops parked across the street, 30 feet away. Everyone walked over & around him totally ignoring him.

I will never ever forget when i saw a couple (hard to tell what sex they where) jumping from the World Trade Center on 9/11. That image is always running in my head. I can not imagine what they where going through. Either be burned to death or jump to your death.

when we got all this rain down here in the ep and they ended up evacuation the people that lived in downtown because they feared that one of the dams in juarez was going to break. The streets were crazy filled with tons of mud and water and house were split right down the middle...I have never seen anything like that in my own backyard.
