How do I get rid of smell in bathroom. Cleaned floor & toilet even removed & cleaned under it & replaced seal

You might need to seek professional help. You may need them to take up and replace the whole entire toilet. You may have a leak underneath the toilet, water and waste maybe sitting. Have you changed your shower curtains. It may be mold and mildew? Have you tried changing your decorative towels? Maybe some urine may be on them and you not know it. Have you tried cleaning the pipes on your basin?

There is a product by Lysol called "Neutra Air" that works fantastically. Most spray air deoderizers just cover up smells with flowers or fruit or something like that, but this one doesn't really smell like anything - it contains chemicals that kill whatever is causing the smell. I've used it for a long time now and it is absolutely amazing how well it works. So that would be a good temporary solution for you if you can't find the source.

I'd also advise calling a plumber to have a look at your toilet to see if s/he can figure out where the smell is coming from, since you've looked for it so hard and not found it. It's probably nothing serious, but you never know - something causing a smell like that could be something important rotting, or even organic material like a dead rodent stuck somewhere. It's disgusting, but it does happen.

If the sub-floor is wood, it may be saturated but not wet any longer. A friend of mine had that same problem with a bedroom that the previous home owner's pets destroyed. The only way he finally managed to kill the smell was to cover the wood in 2 coats of an enamel paint. That sealed the floor and the smell didn't come up through it any more. Good luck! :o)

At Walmart I found a product called "OUT" which is to be used to remove the smell of cat urine. Try it. I soaked the area, cleaned it off and then sprayed it on the area again for overnight. The odor was gone and has never returned in five years. The people who lived here before us had cats, and they went everywhere. OUT did the trick. If it works on cat urine (the absolute worst), it most likely will work on human urine.

The seal for the toilet may have leaked before, and now the sub-flooring may need replacing..

I had that problem, and went through everything you mentioned, including tearing up the flooring.

Other than that, I don't know.

Do you think maybe the drain for the sink has that odor? Perhaps the pipes need flushing.. use bleach?

That's weird. I'd call a plumber since you've pretty much tried what seems to be everything. I would suggest getting a clorox bowl cleaner as well. You just hook it over the side of the toilet and it works really well at eliminating odors.

is the smell mold? if it is it should be removed, it may have been caused by water in the floor boards or behind/next to the shower stall. in the meantime try "odokill"...i have had success with the product in removing the odor of decaying animals that have sought last refuge in between walls in the house. stinky..but it works by putting some on a cotton ball and leaving it in a dish, you may have to repeat a few times or use it regularly if the smell will not dry up.

Try cleaning with some white vinegar. It's a natural deodorizer & the vinegar smell will dissipate quickly.

Other than that, it sounds like your sub floor underneath the tile or linoleum or the walls may be permeated with urine. You may be able to clean the walls with vinegar or your cleaning solutions & then repaint. Don't know about the floor, sorry.

Yeah I have a son who has bad aim too. Sometimes I even have to scrub the WALLS behind the toilette, and in weird places I used to not think about, like the underside of the water tank, etc. Spray everything down with bleach and let it sit, then come back and scrub. Use a toothbrush to get around the grout around the edge of the toilette and stuff too.

the smell could be coming from the drains. put a freshening agents in the toilet, and air freshener for the air, and keep the toilet lid down at all time, and put those rubber drain covers over the sink and tub drains. it does wonders! make sure the water is already running when you lift them off, though, or the smell comes right back out!
