Does Oil Treatment harm your engine? Someone told me it does...?

The oil treatment will not harm the engine, also, it will not help it in any way either. Don't sweat another month unless you are in the habit of going way past 5K miles on a regular basis.

first off, if your oil needed additives, the oil company would have put it in there, the rest if just voo doo. Sometimes those additives even contain chlorine which does more harm than good.

now addresing oil change intervals. Oil changes not only replace oil that breaks down, it also removes dirty oil that your filters cannot further clean up. Think about the acids from combustion and possible water contamination from humid air conditions. High mileage oil change intervals give those contaminants a LONG time to eat away at your internal engine parts. Don't waste your money on additives. just change your oil every 3000 to 5000 miles. Just remember that the oil you buy is several times better that the stuff you could get ten years ago, and even then the stuff was adequate. oh, and a quick note to save you a few bucks. most oil change places sell you what they call addons. this is how they make their money. It is stuff like windshield wipers, air filters and the like. just let them change your oil, if they ask you to buy more stuff, tell them to finish you car and that you will never be back. you can buy the same 20 dollar air filter at napa for less than half that. good luck!!!

with use of regular oil you need to change oil every 3000 miles or every 3 months. if you want a good oil additive try Lucas oil treatment. Synthetics are great but 3 times the price. the slick fifty oil treatment is the only oil treatment i recommend NOT using.

I would advise against any oil treatment..... like lucas oil stabilizer for example.... makes the oil foamy....., or stp which adds cheap volume index improvers (break down easy and may sludge) and zinc (antiwear additive) but makes the oil thicker..... not good in the cold weather.

Slick 50 is to be walked away from, same for duralube that uses chlorinated parrafins.... (chlorine!!! makes acid!)

Valvolines is ok, lots of good additives but same as stp, makes the oil thicker... If you don't drive much, your fine with the engine oil in the crankcase....... 6 months is nothing to conventional. Forget the rislone as well....., none of these additives help....

Don't bother with the oil treatment. A month isn't a big deal. Most oil change intervals are ridiculously shortened to make money off of your paranoia.

If you forget a lot, switch to synthetic, like Amsoil, and get 25000 miles between oil changes. (12,500 between filters).

Oil Treatment will not harm your engine...

At least change your filter if you have time...

use 1 quart of Riselon when you change your oil..

u can put lucas if you like useing molasses in your engine.

I put lucas iol stabiler in my Honda accord 92 with 205.000 on it an it runs well quiter

Use synthetic oil instead and you can go 10,000 mile intervals.
